    House-ruled monk class

Your monk: AC bonus +4+Wis mod Improved Unarmed Strike Greater unarmed strike (c.f. proficiencies) Wild Talent 10 feats 3 good saves 4 skill points per level Fighter: 11 feats 1 good save Proficiencies (c.f. greater unarmed strike) 2 skill points per level It just seems over the top, rightly...

    House-ruled monk class

Then I'd recommend my above solution: continue making monk abilities into feats as you've already done, and have people take the fighter class. Alternately, make a fighter varient that has slightly less selection in its bonus feats and gets unarmed damage abilities (just enough to keep...

Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary (now available)

There's not much to it. There are a lot of applications out there that can do FTP uploading -- either web browsers (Internet Explorer or Firefox's FireFTP, to name but two) or FTP-only applications, like Core FTP. Most of these are just click-and-drag: paste in the address, type in a login...

    House-ruled monk class

I'm having trouble thinking of ways to balance the class, because I don't think that I understand the purpose behind your redesign. What do you think monks should be like? This version looks a lot like the fighter, and with the abilities turned into feats I'd be tempted to go all the way...

    House-ruled monk class

It seems very strong to me -- two levels give +3 to all saves, +2 base attack, a bonus feat, a large AC bonus (normally +4 to +8), and the highest light weapon damage in the game (heck, the highest finessable weapon damage in the game). Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems too good to me.

What would a monk have to give up?

For comparison, here are my unarmed combat feats and my alternate monk class: http://rpg.crg4.com/testfeats.html http://rpg.crg4.com/classes.html#mystic

What would a monk have to give up?

I think that if anything, that's giving up too much for the monk -- although I'd be afraid to do it quite the way you did, since it would make dipping one or two levels into monk too attractive for most martial characters.

What would a monk have to give up?

    a) This wouldn't go in my game. I've made a number of monk unarmed combat abilities into feats, and a person who wanted full base attack would be encouraged to be a fighter taking those feats. b) Some fast movement, perhaps?

Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary (now available)

'Then, said Glorfindel, 'let us cast it into the deeps, and so make the lies of Saruman come true. For it is clear now that even at the Council his feet were already on a crooked path. He knew that the Ring was not lost for ever, but wished us to think so; for he began to lust for it for...

Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary (now available)

I'm curious about your wording and your world dynamics. I don't know what kind of campaign you run, but I have to imagine this would bring the world to a halt. If the greatest infernals are dwarfed in power by what a commoner can become with a touch, surely the world will be destroyed in short...

Feats: Not enough or too many?

Nymph’s Kiss [Exalted] Prerequisites: Good alignment, maintain an intimate relationship with a good aligned fey (such as a nymph or dryad).

    Proposed Fighter "fix"

They both function normally. A Rog10/Asn20 (Str 24, Int 18) forces a Devastating Critical save (DC 32) as well as a Death Critical save (DC 29 + feats). Thanks! It's one of my newer ones. My group really took to it, though, and used it often. I think it's a strong feat, despite its...

Armor Mastery and the Dwarf Knight

Likewise, I wouldn't give the dwarf anything. I don't think that dwarves are too powerful (although I don't give them weapon familiarity with dwarven waraxes), but there's no reason to go out of the way here.

A thesaurus grouped by broad topic areas would be useful, as well.

    Proposed Fighter "fix"

I don't have a page dedicated to just the epic fighter feats I've made, but here's the link to my list of epic feats (DMG, ELH, LoA, and custom): http://rpg.crg4.com/epicfeats.html Of the ones I wrote, Death Critical, Magic Fists, Mighty Grip, One Eye Open, Weapon of Alacrity, and Zen Strike...

    Rules - Tiefling Balance

I just typed it up (well, HTMLified it anyway) for you: http://rpg.crg4.com/races.html#tiefling Actually, there's nothing to this race, it's as simple as I described. Some of the other races (gnome, for instance) may be interesting to you.

    Rules - Tiefling Balance

First of all, you don't know (as far as I can see) what other changes I made to the aasimar and tiefling. Second, getting +2 to two fairly weak stats isn't automatically better than getting +2 on the stat of your choice. Empirically, I've had 2 players make characters with my new tiefling but...

    Rules - Tiefling Balance

I've made various modifications I don't recall to the aasimar and tiefling, but the main change is that they're both templates IMC. This means that you can have, e.g., a bonus feat and skill points on top of the standard benefits. For the tiefling, I think I changed the stat mods from +2/+2/-2...

    Another polearm feat

I think it's fine. The alternative would be for the fighter to step back 5', which works as well in most cases. You should probably limit the bull rush to the reach of the weapon, though.

Epic Players/DMs: Do you use epic spellcasting?

At the moment, yes. We don't allow custom skill-boosting items, so that aspect hasn't been a problem; new spells are created with the DM's help and approval, so that hasn't given trouble. Eventually I'd like to write my own system, but for now this is good enough to go with. (Frankly, the...
