    Core Religion Survivor, Round Two

What more can I say? I'm not a fan of the demihuman deities. I don't see gods like Boccob, Nerull, and Kord as human as such; they're certainly not like the demihuman deities "Creator and Patron of race X".

Is the AD&D 1E Revival here to stay?

Drop that question on OGF-l and ask there -- that's where I hear most talk about it.

    LA house rule idea

Your numbers convinced me of what I first suspected: the modified LA rules result in a more powerful character. This isn't very surprising; losing 2 from an ability isn't much compared to a HD and all associated benefits. Of course this may not be a bad thing, since many LAs are on the high...

Help finding an open content monster

From Classics of Fantasy, mentioned above: Evil eye, CR 13, charm monster at will Semiferum ophiduan, CR 3, charm person 1/day Anguineum cast ophiduan, CR 7, hypnotism at will, charm monster 3/day Phrenic scourge, CR 8, charm monster, detect thoughts, and suggestion at will, sap will...

Is the AD&D 1E Revival here to stay?

I know several people in the business who are staying away from Osric because of legal issues -- essentially, they're waiting to see how WotC/Hasbro reacts and/or how much they sue for.

Is the AD&D 1E Revival here to stay?

diaglo, while I like the current editions (3.0/3.5), I'd like to get to know more about the original game (1974 boxed set, not 1E). I'm trying to find a copy of the game -- is there anywhere better than eBay to get it? (I'm bidding on a boxed set now, but I have not particular reason to think...

    Core Religion Survivor, round one

And Mung made the sign of Mung, pointing towards THE END. And the fears of Kabok had rest from troubling Kabok any more, for they and he were among accomplished things. (Lord Dunsany, The Gods of Pegana)

Is the barbarian too front loaded?

Wow, your experiences differ from mine very strongly. I've seen many fighters with no barbarian levels (non-lawful and otherwise), a few fighter/barbarians with roughly equal levels, one or two barbarians that 'dipped' fighter, and no characters (or perhaps one, a long time ago) that just...

Help finding an open content monster

Ari Marmell also has Classics of Fantasy under his imprint Lions Den Press, which has the phrenic scourge (ochthichthuruch), a mind flayer analogue. It's CR 8.

    Core Religion Survivor, round one

Lolth is bad, but Garl will get my vote every time until he's gone.

"Ring bearer" - more than 2 rings?

Yes, although as nonepic feats they need stronger requirements (as in deed this one has).
  12. CRGreathouse

How do you wear a third magic ring?

Yep. Failing these method, you'd have to use the ELH's Additional Magic Item Space.

"Ring bearer" - more than 2 rings?

Getting to wear an extra functional ring is an epic feat. If you think the character isn't going to abuse it, I suppose it could be a nonepic feat with prereqs. I think the first two magic rings worn are in effect; to change this, take off all or all but one and then put on the new one(s).

How do monsters spend gold pieces?

    Someone's in denial.
  15. CRGreathouse

How do monsters spend gold pieces?

I think there are plenty of reasons. Orcs and ogres trade coins amongst themselves for the same reasons humans and dwarves do: convenience. Monsters that are more nearly accepted in human lands, like centaurs and hobgoblins, may also trade with conventional races -- perhaps through...

    LA house rule idea

Huh? It seems that O_E's rules end up with the same ECL (and as such XP) as the standard system. The character will just have lower stats in exchange for higher HD.

    Problem of math

Of course, 99.9% of the speed of light would take perhaps 50 times the thrust that 0.5c would take...

    Problem of math

You'll need to use a different propulsion system for long-range trips. Some form of hyperspace folding (either bending higher dimensions or using existing bends, then traveling across) would work nicely. Failing that, a mystimagical system where you can 'blink' in and out, perhaps after...

Altering subschools around for a new flavor- final version post #16

I like the flavor, but the power levels vary quite a bit. Temporalists, already weak with spells, get one of the weakest benefits, while Alchemists who are fairly strong get a large bonus.

    Revised Solar

Sollir, good to see you! We've been on different parts of the boards and I haven't seen you much since HeavyG's game. I like the revised solar, though the idea of a mortal worshiper becoming a solar is alien to my campaign. I must say your rules for divine servants seem strange to me. A...
