D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

Looking at the books a way to make the Deck of Many Thinhs usable in play, instead of the Russian Roulette joke it has been traditionally, organizing by the cards makes a lot of sense: it helps make any card that gets pulled a story opportunity instead of a campaign wrecker.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

IIRC, you do not DM...so, honestly, not much? The material in thus book, except for a handful of Feats and a lot of magic items, is pretty much all DM prep material. Great present for a DM, though.

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

The larger the number of people adopting 2024 ruoes organically, the greater the pull of laziness will be, too.

Shadowdark Setting Looks Set To Be 2025's First Million Dollar TTRPG Crowdfunder

So, at about midway between 9 and 10 thousand backers with $1.8 million raised, this is a pretty huge success for a low-swag Kickstarter (not that the books don't look nice, but the frills here are pretty down to earth for these sorts of things). Still about 3 thousand backers away from the...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

Thinking about why people might not talk about the book...it doesn't present many problems with use. The Big Campaign books need a lot of work to make into a game, but the bite size bits in here don't require big threads on how to fix the material.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

Part of the real strength of the book, IMO, is how small moat of the ideas are: very easy to go looking, find a little bit to use, and drop it in somewhere.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

So, the Book of Many Things is the standard 5E hardcover supplement that comes bundled with the Deck of Many Things product: it has Feats, Backgrounds, Monster stat blocks, random tables, magic items (actually one of the largest sets of magic items of any 5E supplement) maps, mini adventures...

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Just from my past decade of experience of 5E, 18 is a good amount to create specialization and difference between members of a party, or different characters with the same Class.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

One of the better and more daring products made for 5E, honestly: a real smorgasbord of tools and ideas to use in game prep.

What if Studio Ghibli directed Lord of the Rings?

This is pretty stupid and ugly looking: the idea that it was cheap to make is laughable, considering the amount of IP theft involved, using material that took the and effort to make originally.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

It is interesting, thinking on it, they seem to have been keen to keep the exact same number of Skills, even if they reshuffle them significantly: wonder if there is some game theory reason for 18 Skills, specifically, in 5E rules in general.

Paksworld RPG Based On Elizabeth Moon's Novels

The novels are very much straight up AD&D 1E fiction, in detail. The first story is even The Village of Hommlet, with her clearing out the Moathouse.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

    - Dex: Piloting replaces Sleight of Hand - Cha: Intimidation and Performance are dropped without replacement - Wis: Mechanics replaces Animal Handling, Streetwise replaces Survival - Int, the Big One, all Skills from standard 5E except History are removed and replaced with: Astronautics...

    D&D 5E (2014) Am I missing something on 2014 rogue?

The main thing the whiteboard theory crafting misses is that the 2014 design intent is for the Rogue to have Advantage on every single Round, essentially. Hence the 2024 changes that simply make that more apparent and easier.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Yeah, I think the reqson behind a lot of this stuff (like how very many guns there are, seriously like 30 different guns maybe?) is from the designers porting over 5E representations of what they built for the video game: probavly also the reason behind the 4 Classes they chose (also easier to...
