    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

Tasha's is pretty great, and honestly the designers have mostly been on a hot streak in the 20s, with some exceptions.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

Demons are way different, being literally all over the place. A Vrock and a Balpr are just different. The Index has those broader families covered. Again, not saying it is the only way to do it...but the organizarion is internally coherent and usable in prep.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

The fungus is the same reason that Pirates or Vampires are grouped together...so a DM can say "Inwant to use a fungus/pirate/vampire here, what is the CR appropriate version or thst again...?", same with the Mephits, while the different kinds of Drsgons are different kinds: the ahead categories...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

I actually think it makes more sense to compare different product lead designers more than who is on top of the Org chart, and unfortunately by that metric picking out the products made by Amanda Hamon are unfortunately standouts in a not-great way (Vam Richten's Guide and Golden Vault being...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Ray Winninger Era of D&D 5e

I'd compare Volo's and MToF less to MotM and more to Fizban's and Bigby's, the latter two will age much better as sources of usable Lore IMO.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

Oh, I enjoy it...but the quality gap of home viewing and theatrical screens has closed considerably, but the cost gap has widened. I ha e a 4k, theatrical quality TV that was basically free, while theatre tickets cost as much as a month of Netflix and the concessions are highway robbery for junk.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

It is really quite clearly organized as a game prep and running reference...? I'm not saying anyone has to like the organization, or thst it is the best, but it is logically laid our for use at the table.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

I have been to the movie theatres once in the 20s, for Deadpool & Wolverine, and thst was pretty good. But compared to my comfortable 4k setup at home, it really isn't the upgraded experience it was in the 90s.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Do they have a set list of possible homeworlds, or is there a world randomization or building guide...?

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

I gotta be honest, pretty impressed with how much they put into this.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Really hard to tell with video games from curated trailers. Not goijg to get worked up about it yet either way. But a big fan of the enthusiasm for the worldbuilding, nice to see thar sort of genuine passion.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

Yeah, jury is way out on the video game itself, but honestly I loved the novel and this TTRPG seems really fun, love the Setting that Archetype is building out. The Secret Level short film was pretty good.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

It is a curious roll-out, bit I suspect we will see it get a bigger push as the video game itself comes closer to release. James Ohlen is running a livestream of this TTRPG that Archetype is pushing in social media.

    Wheel of Time S3

Less a trim and more a total reorganization, less length and more structural redesign. But, the text is as it is, warts and all.

    Wheel of Time S3

Honestly, it is less that his books needed a trim, and more that he should have slowed down the publication rate to figure out the next steps rather than simply writing through them and publishing as he went. I do like the results, though, and unlike my College self after reading Crossroads of...

    Wheel of Time S3

I agree, having done both. I enjoy the whole Slog, as prose styling. Still, Crossroads of Twilight could have been an email.

Brandon Sanderson is known for his Laws of Magic, but it is pretty clear Jordan's influence on him is strong on that front.

    Wheel of Time S3

IMO, one of the issues with The Slog is the intercut narrarive: I think a book of all Perron POV chapters from books 7-11 would flow better, or omw of all of Mat's chapters. By being entirely intercut, each plot just moves that much slower...when they are all actually moving to a goal, Zeno's...

    Wheel of Time S3

Yeah, that doesn't really pick up fully until book 11, unfortunately: but when it does, it does so with a vengence. As @Demetrios1453 alides to, without spoilers...in Robert Jordan's original "I think I can do this in 3 novels outline, the end of the first projected novel ended up being the...

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

I agree, just don't see much evidence that is happening yet.
