Wall of Fire, insanely good damage spell??

In 1st ed, the Druid version of the wall had a duration of concentration OR 1 round per level, and moved with the caster. It was the druidic anti-undead (specifically anti-vampire) spell. Cast it and then shapshift into a fast moving bird and fly the wall through the undead multiple times. Bonus...

    Tiger men races?

You mean, like this guy? Armless Tiger-Man But seriously, there is a "panther-like" race in the Scarred Lands. The "Terrali" or some such. They are detailed in both the Termana campaign book and in the Revised Creature Collections, where they appear as a PC race.

I want an invading army from beyond this dimension. Tell me about it.

Anyone ever read "Guns of the South"?

Pathfinder 1E Paizo, Kobolds, Aliens, and Saw

I was actually thinking along the lines of something alien has called the children and then warped them without their consent. Kinda takes the fun out of Great Cleave when the targets are 5 year olds (who just might be curable). Sick, yes yes, I know.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo, Kobolds, Aliens, and Saw

Have the "kobolds" be mutated, warped malevolent children.

I want an invading army from beyond this dimension. Tell me about it.

Make 'em bugs. Give Thri-Kreen wings, use Dromites and Formians, and make them all psionic (preferably with the "Psionics are Different" option). That's what I'm going to do.

    D&D 4E Not going to 4e

I was going to start this same exact thread a couple of weeks ago. But I decided to avoid the 4th ed forum for a while instead (better for my sanity and quality of life). No one in my group is even remotely interested in 4th ed. Our campaign setting has already been discontinued (which is ok by...

Black Comnpany - Pros & Cons?

The books are great, and the CS models the setting very well. It's not for beginners, though, especially the magic system. Also, don't get too attached to the characters. In the books or the game! ;)

    Tattoo Magic

The Scarred Lands setting did indeed have tattoo magic. It's detailed in both Relics and Rituals I and II, as well as some more in Burok Torn and I think Hornsaw sourcebooks, maybe in the Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers. Also, there was a Dragon Magazine sidebar that described a...

Still no SRD for 3rd party companies

If by "average for the industry" you mean the computer game industry, where they release a beta version of the game and then when it's really done they'll let you download a free patch, I don't think that's much of a defense of 4th ed. And that's pretty much the vibe I'm getting. PHB/MM/DMG I...

Still no SRD for 3rd party companies

So, you'd prefer that no one produces 3rd party support for D&D 4th ed? Because that's the vibe I'm getting from you and Mourn and a few others in this thread. "That's the way the cookie crumbles" and all that. The best 3rd party 3.5 ed supporting companies (Necro, Green Ronin, Goodman) do not...

    Average of exploding dice?

I'm pretty sure www.savagepedia.com has a link that has all this worked out for you. I'd include the link, but I already sealed the envelope.

    Zombies!!! Anyone played it?

I have played both the original Zombies!!! (circa 2001) and the revised rules. It ain't Advanced Squad Leader, but it is a fun, beer and pretzels kinda game. I was impressed with the production values overall (especially from such a small company). My brother-in-law is a huge zombie freak, so I...

Will there ever be another Marvel or DC superhero RPG?

It's funny, my friends and I started out with the base set, then came up with a tonof houserules... only to have nearly every single one make it into the Advanced game. One rule that didn't make the jump that would solve one of the problems you mention above was using Karma to up damage 1:1. I...

    Bard Multi-Classing

I'd bump Con (to 12) long before I'd bother with Str. Either that or keep pumping Chr or Dex. A 1 level dip in Sorcerer would let you use all of the wands/scrolls on their spell list without using UMD, and you'd get a few Magic Missiles (or Mage Armors) to help out per day. In an urban game...

    Another HUGE FFG 5-day sale.

Likewise, I am curious about Midnight, but I can't tell which books are 2nd ed Midnight and which are 1st ed. Likewise, which of the regional books are best? How are the "crunch" books? Inquiring minds and all.

    D&Ders: Medical Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants.

Seems odd to limit the "professional" career options to just those three. Technically then, I don't play with any of those. However, in my current campaign, past and current players include 3 Scientists (including myself), two Veternarians, two Police Officers and a Teacher (who has a degree in...

    I begin to worry...

Not every opponent has magic weapons and armor, and even if they did, sundering a hill giant's +1 huge club is a pittance to pay to keep him from making your party into paste. Dismissing Sunder this way is a non-starter arguement. Bull Rush is not weak unless you are always fighting on a wide...
