    The real flaw of 3E/3.5E/OGL

Honestly, my experience doesn't match that at all. I've played every edition since the Basic Set, with numerous DMs, long term games and one shots, in person and online, with house rules galore, and through 3.5 I was never confused, or in unfamiliar territory. Every game had that cool sense of...

Pathfinder on the bookstore shelves? Forked Thread: The 3.5 renaissance!

I honestly understand how you feel--I sometimes feel the same way when I see people trash Pathfinder or 3.5. But I don't see anything in the OP's post that suggests he would *like* Hasbro to abandon D&D--just that he thinks it might happen. As to getting Pathfinder in bookstores--I would love...

    Is this puzzle solvable?

Mudbunny's question is a good one. Are the gems shaped differently, so they would only fit into one spot, or are they interchangeable? Also, are they six-sided dice? Does the dais turn?

What does alignment describe? (Forked Thread: What Alignment is Rorschach?)

You make some great points, Celebrim. I take a simpler view of alignment--that it is the sum of the character's decisions to date. And being such, it is always in the player's control, and it is never fixed, but changes very slowly, over time, as the character lives and changes and grows and...

    The 3.5 renaissance!

True, though to the OP's point, the great thing isn't that there's new 3.5 material being released, but rather what *is* being released is high quality material from some of the most talented names in the biz. I agree--its a great time to be a 3.5 fan.

    4e Change of mind

Wow. This is one of the things I don't like about 4e. I never had a problem with different classes shining at different play levels. Kept things interesting, and made players revisit their tactics and character concepts every now and then to stay effective. And these are some of the things I...

Mearls talks about how he hates resistances

Then make it so the spell caster can ignore 1-3 points of resistance?

Mearls talks about how he hates resistances

How about if a specialist elementalist gains the ability to override resistance to his or her specialty? So your ice themed wizard eventually gains a class feature (or takes a feat) which allows her to ignore resistance to cold. It makes sense for monsters as well--two red dragons should be...

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

Quotes from published works, when used in another published work, are not copyright violations. I believe compliance with the law hinges on the creation of a new work, however that is defined legally. In this case, perhaps a game aid is a new work?

Another Cease and Desist Letter: 4E Powercards

IANAL, but if 4epowercards.com was my site, I would've been tempted to see what the courts would've said about the matter. Selling someone else's work as your own is wrong, but thats not the case here. No money changed hands, and no credit was taken--the text in question was obviously quoted...

What do I need to play online

I play in three online campaigns: A 4e campaign with Klooge.werks, (www.kloogeinc.com); A 3e campaign with OpenRPG, (www.openrpg.com); A Pathfinder campaign with Maptools, (www.rptools.net). Both the 4e and Pathfinder games use Ventrilo for voice chat, (Ventrilo - Surround Sound Voice...

    Dear DDi subscribers...

No one is having trouble logging on? I bought my subscription today, and haven't been able to access any part of it--I just get various errors.

    Dear DDi subscribers...

...I'm considering getting a 12 month subscription to DDi, and I was wondering if I could hear from folks who have subscriptions. Are you happy with it? Is it worth the price? And why or why not? Thanks in advance.

I think its reasonable to make it clear that some of us are perfectly aware of the baiting tone of both posts.

If your group didn't like 4e...

I play in three weekly games. One is going to stay 3.5. One is going to finish as 3.5, then test out 4e. One switched to Pathfinder, which we're really enjoying, and added a second campaign--4e LFR. My preference so far is Pathfinder, but they're all fun in their own ways.

    Let's talk about minions...

I agree. I'm not opposed the idea of easy-to-kill mooks, but I think they should be used sparingly--as the cannon fodder in a large scale battle, or as the guards patrolling around the wall of a compound the characters have to infiltrate--that sort of thing. As for the 1 hp, I understand the...

    Farewell to thee D&D

The Narrative Interpretation Just wanted to chime in on about the "narrative" interpretation of Encounter and Daily powers, and say I understand and appreciate the attempt to create a framework for a Tumble that can only be made once an encounter, (for example), but I've gotten so used to being...
