Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

It can certainly raise complicated situations, but... it doesn't look like a game breaker. After the initial crime spree, it doesn't have that much effect, certainly not on the doppelganger's effectiveness in a party. So what do you anticipate the problem(s) would be?

    What's broken/overpowered? What's weak?

Imban- Interesting analysis of the half-elf. Looking at it though, I'm not sure that the race itself is lacking, exactly (though the floating diplomacy bonus for others should certainly be kicked to the curb and exchanged for something good). Rather, I think its that the half-elf just doesn't...

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

Interesting table though. Thanks Asmor, it helps give me some ideas of what races I want to use in my own campaign. After getting some clearer rumors, I may, shockingly, actually keep dragonborn... though I may reskin them. Make them not lizards, and make the breath weapon a elemental...

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

Its a matter of primary and secondary stats. Apparently most classes attack with one or two stats. Clerics, for example, seem to be str and wis. The secondary stats are nice, but not nearly as important.

Torrent throwdown on the Wizards board

I agree. The paper quality of KotS was really subpar. People don't even print magazine on paper that poor anymore. One readthrough and the cover was smudged in multiple places (rather bad since the final encounter carries over to the back 'cover' and the paper was curling. Coupled with all...

    Lets "fix" the Keep pregens!

I just don't see it as that useful to give up strength. Yes, you take more hits than everyone else, but that doesn't mean you should be a lump. You should take advantage of your weapon options and weapon bonus. There isn't much reason for a fighter to be attacking at +6, when he can easily be...

    Lets "fix" the Keep pregens!

So, in this vein. A brief blurb about good racial choices for classes. With the floating +2, humans can manage to excel at any class. It goes in the primary stat. You may not want to be something like a Star pact warlock, however, unless you ignore your at-will power, only use eldritch blast...

Is Power Attack still a must?

I can see people who would want it... but personally... eh. No. Hitting is more important. I ran some KotS encounters and the fighter pretty much ignored the feat entirely. Though from what I've seen I like the sword and board fighter better than the two handed fighter, and it definitely isn't...

Since when are Character Sheets are "useful additions"

I went from notebook paper to scratch-building excel sheets that were actually laid out in a manner that made some modicum of sense to me.

    Shooting into Melee

From the DDXP and KotS rules... its no different from shooting at someone who isn't in melee. You just make the shot as normal.

    What's broken/overpowered? What's weak?

Since powers stay, by and large, level appropriate, this is a bad idea. You're giving characters extra powers (which are strong) at the cost of feats (which are weak). It changes the situation from 'maybe weak', to 'no-brainer'.

    What's broken/overpowered? What's weak?

I'd like someone to actually prove those three (and anything else), rather than people just accepting it as fact. A greatsword hits more often for slightly less damage. This is bad?

*Voss does the Dance of Someone Pleased with the lack of implied bestiality* Merlin can stay.

So is this indeed how it works?

Well, a lot of this stuff is really subjective. It may be what you want in D&D, but it isn't necessarily what other people want in D&D You mean back when it had 88 hit points and a 13th level fighter could kill it in 2 rounds? Because thats classic D&D right there. Though, one of my bigger...

Question: Rogues, Ally-cover, and Sneak-Attacking every round

I thought standing behind an ally didn't provide cover? It didn't in DDXP or KotS.

Table of ability scores for each PHB race, MM race, and class

Strong personalities, I guess. I find it interesting that stat-wise you can straight-swap them for halflings and half-elves. Hmm. Longtooth shifter clerics... and doppelganger warlocks.

    Halflings?

I'll take 'reroll an enemy's hit' over 'teleport a distance smaller than you can walk' any day. But really, I've seen complaints about just about every race at this point, so I'm reserving judgement. I remember the 3.0 monk fiasco all to well.

    Lets "fix" the Keep pregens!

Buying an 18 through point buy isn't necessarily your best option. Its good for some characters, but you'll often want 14s in your secondary and/or tertiary stats, and possibly con. Both for secondary power effects and for other defenses. Buying an 18 essentially means you're buying...

Build me a katana + trenchcoat guy

From what people have posted at various places ultimate 'trenchcoat guy': Bugbear fighter bonuses to strength and dex, and can use large weapons. (Someone mentioned a FF-style giant blade, I believe...) level 1 stats: Stats Str 18 Con 12 Dex 18 Int 10 Wis 12 Cha 8 large greatsword +8 vs AC...

    Anti-Minion Tactics

Even better, if you're a star warlock, since you get a cumulative +1 to a roll on your next round for each curse victim that drops. As I understand it, there is a feat that gives that ability an extra +1. But would that be an extra, flat, +1 or an extra +1 per victim? So, with Improved (Star...
