    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

Except... no one was saying that. People were saying that they didn't like it, because it didn't match up with their expectation of what an angel would be. Just as I don't like it because its uninteresting, and fairly indistinguishable from several similar creatures.

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

Neither point was actually in doubt. Or indeed, even under discussion.

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

Ah. Good to know. But you can see why some people might be dissatisfied with angels= troops who stab people in the face with lightning.

    KotS Pregen Copyright.

Yeah, its pretty much the basic concept of fair use. To the OP: what, exactly, did you originally ask? Because there is a big difference between scanning and making it available to the world on the internets and making photocopies of the character sheets for your players. Also... the thread...

D&D 4E Notes from the 4E Corebooks: Alignment, Monsters, Artifacts and More

No, as with most of Tolkien's material, he just copy/pasted old northern European legends (and largely simplified them).

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

I'm referring to most stories about angels, as Wolv0rine was referencing when he brought up the topic, because, as I mentioned, I happen to agree- most material on angels has them as them a Beings of Power, tied directly to a god, not as soldiers that stab people in the face with fire or...

    Zombie Minions are too weak

must... resist...urge...to...pun... failed. a zombie hoard would be a sign of a sick and deranged mind. But this brings to mind some issues I noticed with the monsters we had previews of. The levels on some of them were a bit questionable. The human berserker stands out in my mind, it was...

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

A divine manifestation of a god's will isn't some faceless mook with wings that stabs you with lightning. Its more a matter of raining down brimstone on all your family, friends, and, in fact, your entire home town because you muttered a blasphemy under your breath in the temple.

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

No, he's saying that aside from the fluff that the gods hired the angels and the primordials made the archons, they're essentially the same thing- elemental soldiers, and thats a let down from, well, any concept of angel that has ever been.

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

I want to see what the point of angels, archons, elementals and demons are, since they're all (apparently) essentially the same thing: servitor-class elemental beings.

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

Yeah, that was weird and annoying. The idea of intelligent creatures with no culture or society is pretty... wacky... to begin with, especially since they've been independent beings since roughly the dawn of time (back when the gods and primordials fought, and the primies lost). Its even...

    D&D 4E Elementals in 4e ?

Not sure. They also mention disconnecting it from the classical elements (and that is somehow a good thing). The only thing I can think of is the Magma Brute in the DDM set. Its an elemental and essentially fire/earth. It does seem to be a way around the stupid earth=acid, water=cold and...

    Minions and Temporary HPs

No, they are different rules- I'm quite certain there will be a rule defining temporary hit points. Furthermore, the glossary excerpt specifically defines minions this way: Thats the actual definition of minions. There isn't any mention of 1 hp, just that they are destroyed when they take any...

Squaring the Circle (old alignment to new)

I think we need to see how these alignments are actually defined. There is actually a chance that LG and CE are actually less good or evil, because they aren't pure good or evil- they're distracted by their own particular brand of crazy.

Grrr... can't find Keep on the Shadowfell!

yup. It slipped over into Shadow. You'll have to go in after it. Either that, or the boat sank, and its under several thousand feet of chilly Atlantic water. Either way, good luck! :D

    Minions and Temporary HPs

Problem is, I think it makes more sense if the exception goes the other way. Rule: temporary hit points are lost first, and provide, essentially, a buffer Exception: minions die when they take any damage, regardless of any temporary hit points. Simply saying 'Exception based design!' doesn't...

    Minions and Temporary HPs

Thats... rather odd, since it is contradicted by the MM glossary entry at the bottom of the excerpt. I would have thought that would override how temporary hit points normally work.

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

Conan, largely yes, though for both you have to take out a lot of stuff. Magic items in particular have to go, as well as the way magic is handled at times (Magic in that setting is more more rare, almost exclusive to villains or plot-furthing NPCs, and very, very dangerous). But thats largely...

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

I don't get it. Nothing prevents him from cleaving with the dagger, no matter how absurd that sounds. @Mustrum- I never had any desire to DM 3e. None, since watching paint dry seemed a much more entertaining activity. So no, I didn't.

JUST BOUGHT KEEP ON THE SHADOWFELL FROM BARNES & NOBLES

For a small product like this, the street date doesn't matter. It may irritate the publisher, but something like this arrives in a box mixed with other stuff, and the receivers at the stores just aren't going to check up on something that arrives as 3-5 copies in a random box. And of course...
