I don't think any of the magic items are overpriced... lol. To me the idea of magic items is not that you should be going to a shop and having them made frequently, but that you should be finding them out on your adventures. The commission of a magic item should be rare.

Cost aside I think magic items also get a much greater hardness and resistance to damage (Each +1 adds 2 hardness and 10 hp's). Sinking you money into the item might as well afford you a bit more protection against having it ruined. Also, flaming or keen are coined as magical abilities but...

No one likes doing work for free unless your on the same side (alignment wise) and those summoned creatures so know they are in for some pain as they get sent to the worst part of the fray for flanking reasons, lol.
