Dwarven Women: Beards or no Beards?

Well I will give you the luxury, since you are playing the elf in my game, to decide that. ;)

The Scarred Lands: Shadows Over Shelzar

Chapter One "The Book" Part One Rautho was standing outside of Sazeer’s office looking over the scroll Jaepho had given him. Inside it was a list of the individuals that Sazeer expected him to work with. It seemed to be a pretty motley crew. An aging human warrior by the name of Gebren...

Dwarven Women: Beards or no Beards?

I assume you mean your previous GMs, rather than your current one, right Seyrn? ;)

    Mind Effects

Hey, I have a general question about mind affecting spells and psionic abilities. In general are characters who are affected by such things aware that their mind has been magically altered after the fact? If you do know do you have any specific page numbers where it discuses this fact? Thanks

New Scarred Lands Story Hour (plug)

Well the players are playing 4th level characters. Currently the group is composed of: Rautho of the Frost Wyrm Tribe, a courtier and warrior from the distant lands of Albadia who has had to flee to Shelzar after sleeping with a king's daughter. (barbarian/courtier) Geb Farrow, an aging...

New Scarred Lands Story Hour (plug)

Hello, I am cashing in my free plug on the main boards to let you know about my new story hour, Shadows Over Shelzar. The campaign is intended, as implied by the name, to take place largely in and around the Pleasure City of Shelzar. It is intended to focus on a mix of political intrigue...

The Scarred Lands: Shadows Over Shelzar

Prelude: Ruatho's Arrival Alright here is the first one. Forgive me for my lack of detail on Rautho's speech. I forgot to write it down. I might be able to update it later after I talk to the player some more. Thoughts would be welcome. :) ************************************************* As...

The Scarred Lands: Shadows Over Shelzar

Hello, welcome to my Scarred Lands Story Hour. :) Hopefully I will be providing updates every week after our sessions. I will be starting off with a prelude session I ran for one of my players, Paul, in order to introduce him to the city since he was from the farthest away. Also, younger...

Calastia: Throne of the Black Dragon, I reviewed it! Now go get it!

Actually I am not complaining about the Scarred Lands magical abundance. I am perfectly fine with it actually, I was just pointing out that I did not think that the Scarred Lands was a magically rare setting. I am okay it being a moderate to high magic world in magical items abundance I was just...

    Your gaming group

Calastia: Throne of the Black Dragon, I reviewed it! Now go get it!

Eh, despite any changes that Calastia made I still see it as a pretty high-magic setting. Especially with its talk about the use of graveskulls, for examples, as a common tool of law enforcement and the sheer number of introduced magic items and artifacts. Even if there is only one copy of each...

The Scars Run Deep (Updated - 3/29/2004)

You have a very nice story hour.... :) It is almost intimidating to start my own Scarred Lands one due to how good your is. ;) alas.....

Calastia: Throne of the Black Dragon, I reviewed it! Now go get it!

Eh, though it says in the first Relics and Rituals book that the Scarred Lands is less magic rich then most settings, I am really not seeing it. Especially with the NPCs in the Wise and the Wicked having a disproportionate amount of magical gear and artifacts it seems to easily be on the level...

Importing old characters into new campaigns.

Greetings, In the past I have had people who have wanted to bring characters they had in other campaigns into mine. This has always puzzled me. Why would you want to bring a character who was likely made under a different set of house rules and probably in an entirely different campaign...

    (R&R2) Specific opinions and findings

Ok, this is only tangently related to RR2 but I figured I should ask it here anyway... I lose Relics and Rituals 1 and I am torn about whether or not I should get it again. It is flavorful and all that but is it really worth the balance issues? I am well aware of your opinion on the issues...

    Mega-Adventures Vs. Normal Adventures

Personally, I prefer shorter adventures. Though I rarely run modules, I think that super-adventures cause things to be a bit too focused. I prefer characters to have the flexibility of pursuing numerous different plot threads at one time.

    (R&R2) Specific opinions and findings

I have only gotten part of the way through the spell list but I think Bread of Life is a bit too much. Compared to the second level healing spell Cure Moderate Wounds which heals 2d8+1/level up to a maximum of 2d8+10 this spell makes 4 quarters of bread that each heal 1d8+1/caster level with no...

Need Good Fantasy Literature Recommendations (again)

    J. Gregeory Keyes' the Waterborn and the Blackgod. He wrote the Fool Wolf fiction in Dragon Magazine. In this pair of novels he has created a delightful, magical world that seems very different most fantasy settings. I have considered it a primary inspiration behind many of my creations since...
