    Troy

Yes, you're right, it is better. Cool. But - I'm already starting to nitpick. :( There should not be any flaming balls flying in the sky... there were no seige weapons of any sort at the time, hence the use of the Trojan Horse to finally get into the city...

Weapon Finesse, does Dex add to damage?

It's quite clear that the damage bonus still comes from Strength.

    Troy

According to imdb.com, Ajax is being played by Tyler Mane, aka Daryl Karolat, a wrestler who played Sabertooth in the X-Men movie.

So a friend of mine, not familliar with fantasy, wants to see RotK with Me.

Honestly, I think that's the best idea. You could go see another film instead for the moment - Hidalgo is supposed to be pretty good, for instance.

Suggest New or Variant Classes for a Woodsy Campaign

For the rogue, using the "wilderness rogue" option in Unearthed Arcana might be good. It just drops some urban skills in favour of some which are more relevant in the wild.

Looking for more boks on Middle Earth.

On The Tolkien Bestiary - read it with caution, as it's not 100% accurate. http://tolkien.slimy.com/essays/DayBooks.html

    Hidalgo

Oddly enough ;) I had no idea he was in GI Jane as I skipped that movie... I apologize for the long link, but the Globe & Mail (a Toronto newspaper) gave it 3 stars in a review today. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20040304.wxhidalgo-playing0304/BNStory/Entertainment/

    Angel 3/3/4 (Spoilers)

I have to disagree with you. And then underline my reply and set it in bold, in 20-foot-high blazing letters of fire. Call me a sap, but John and Aeryn deserved better than that. When Fred died I was shocked but I was also impressed by Joss' writing and the daring. And I've always been...

    Hidalgo

It did strike me that a race across the Sahara desert on horses would be kind of suicidal to the horses... but it'll probably be a fun film.

What do you think of the Fantasy Novel Apparatus?

I think, well "it depends". I just finished reading The Fall of the Kings (by Kushner and Sherman), which had no map or list of dramatis personae. But it didn't really need either. On the other hand, when I read The King's Peace, and The King's Word (both by Jo Walton), I found myself begging...

    Your favored enemies, and why?

I chose humans for my ranger's first favored enemy because part of his training was from an old Robin-Hood like figure who fought the men of the evil Governor (until his 'rebels' got stomped and he had to hide deep in the forest to survive). In play, we ran into a lot of undead around levels...

    Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary or Monsternomicon?

I'd have said the Bestiary is pretty varied. There's quite a few fey creatures, and some unusual constructs (jewel golems... construct snakes... terra-cotta warriors), magical beasts, undead, dragon-type creatures... a big mix of stuff. If you don't want steampunk elements, how useful is the...

    [March] What are you watching?

Enterprise, Angel, and a provincially-produced foreign affairs program called Diplomatic Immunity. Nothing new. I watched a 70s BBC production of Henry IV Part 1 on video (from the library) recently and that was very good.

    The New Batman Movie

So, err, which kid would that be? I certainly have seen Henry V but I can't think of any children.

    [March] What are you reading?

Just finished reading The Prisoner of Zenda (which I'd read before) and Rupert of Henzau, the sequel. Not bad, but overly sentimental at times. I'm currently getting back to Piracy in the Graeco-Roman World. But I just got Paladin of Souls (Bujold) and The Fall of Kings (Kushner/Sherman) out...

    Companion for a Drd/Rgr

I think not till level 4. I think it's bad that it's not addressed, but, for instance, Uncanny Dodge for a rogue/barbarian doesn't jump to Improved until the character fully qualifies for Uncanny Dodge in each class.

    Sword&Board

Fighting defensively stacks with Combat Expertise. So you could use the two in conjunction and get the benefit from Tumble, but you don't get the benefit from Tumble when you use Combat Expertise by itself.

    Alternate ability score generation system

Sorry Trainz, I've been pretty harsh in this thread. I guess if 5d6 might be the other option for rolling for stats this would be pretty balanced. Compared with 4d6, it's rolling a lot more dice.

    Favorite Farscape Head-Trip Moments?

"Crackers Don't Matter" - the one with the alien that drives the whole crew insane with anger at each other "A Bug's Life" - the ep. with the Peacekeepers and the intelligent virus (I think they called it "intellent")

    Alternate ability score generation system

Well, actually, no, not really. It's 2004, not 1984 or whenever the original UA book comes out. I myself want to have some flexibility in character generation, not be shackled to the traditions of the past. YMMV.
