D&D 4E Was Monte's decision to retire influenced by 4E?

The perception that Cook was behind 3E might've come from his stronger presence on the net, and especially here at ENWorld in the first years of 3E. He was most willing to explain reasonings behind design choices of 3E, so maybe people (faultily) attributed those design choices solely to him...

    D&D 4E In 4E Asmodeus will be a god!

I think this is great. A god for those who want to worship the real evil, not semi-evil, not quasi-evil, not the margarine of evil, not the diet-coke of evil. "Just one calorie. Not evil enough." And if it causes public outrage, all the better for D&D.

    Just Not Feelin' It...

What? Are you saying that 4E is not coming in high definition? That's a bummer. I thought my imagination would get 4 times as much pixels as it used to. Seriously, I think F4NBOY has a legit point. Most other businesses get away with improving their products. Now, a new edition will decrease...

Gaming Pornography: Will 4th Edition lead to a more Realistic and Useful Game?

Gaming pornography? I think it's a great term. Just take a term that that has negative connotations in real life and tack on those to another thing you don't like. Modern D&D is: videogamey anime dungeonpunk gaming porn What next? Can I suggest: 4E is the rap music of RPGs?

Why di WoTC lie to us?

We've got accusations of lies, motives being attributed for the lies, the only thing missing are the actual lies that caused the outrage.

    How Will Poison Work?

I hope they make poisons matter beyond the first few levels. As it is now, Delay Poison pretty much makes poison a non-issue for adventurers of any caliber.

Class being penalized for doing its thing?

It depends. I love to play clerics in 3E - just not the healing kind. I like to buff up and duke it out on the frontline. If somebody wants healing, he'll have to wait until after the fight, usually. I'm much more useful for kincking the enemys rear for 50 points a round than healing own people...

    The big announcement: 4dventure

Well, people have predicted 4E since 3.5E, so it's hardly suprising someone was actually right. Like, you know, broken clock is right twice a day, unless it's a digital watch and doesn't show anything.

    The big announcement: 4dventure

This is good news. Probably they'll improve the game, and if they don't, well, I have two adventure paths and Ptolus 1-20 campaign to play.

    D&D 4E Will 4E be backwards compatible?

I hope it's not. Backwards compatibility would seriously hamper any innovations.

Theories regaurding the change in rules of D&D.

OTOH D&D is accused of catering too much to min/maxers, who seek the best possible choice of feats and prestige classes. I don't know how true that is, but obviously both the min/max claim and what you said can't be true.

    Armor Spikes: Unpractical?

But better be at 80% capability than eaten. Besides, I bet this is the same thing as they earlier said that full plate was only good for being used on horseback and then the knight had to be hoisted there with a crane, but now they tested and they can do cartwheels with full plate on. Nobodys...

Theories regaurding the change in rules of D&D.

So, if there was a 1E game going on (no CR system), and a 3rd level party kicked a great wyrm dragons ass, you couldn't bring yourself to say the dragon was ineffectually played? (Because only way you can define and understand ineffectually played monster is .. CR system, right?) I get a...

You could say that, but it would make no sense.

Theories regaurding the change in rules of D&D.

I think he's saying that that's the reason he is wondering. And he's right to wonder, because usually DMs who have to use high-CR monsters to challenge PCs even a bit are usually using them ineffectually. Not wrong, but ineffectually.

Requiring Players To Draw The Dungeon Map!

 Eh, what? My group loves dungeon crawls, but we never got that 'players draw map' to work. Nobody liked it, and there were too many mistakes anyone who was actually in the dungeon wouldn't make. So, in general, you're basically wrong. As a DM, I prefer to draw the players map. I...
