The value of the bear totem ability is lower for this character than it usually would be. For one, as a dwarf he's already resistant to poison, which is one of the more common types you don't get with the base rage. Second, once you have evasion and make most DEX saves with advantage you'll...

D&D 5E (2014) Sacrosant's sacrosanct guide to the most sacrosanct fighting styles

Blind Fighting may be better than archery style if you want to play an eldritch knight or ranger archer with fog cloud. Though granted that costs you an action to set up, so maybe not.

D&D 5E (2014) Sacrosant's sacrosanct guide to the most sacrosanct fighting styles

I don't understand why people say that Defense style doesn't scale. It scales with the damage coming your way. It scales better than Protection, which only scales with damage per attack coming your way, not number of attacks (protection, in turn, scales better than interception, though...

D&D 5E (2014) Sacrosant's sacrosanct guide to the most sacrosanct fighting styles

So... you're saying that your sacrosanct guide isn't sacrosanct, @Sacrosanct?

Too bad the magic shortsword isn't a magic spear --- PAM would be a nice pickup since not TWF.

D&D 5E (2014) New Fighting Styles That Don’t Overshadow Existing Ones

Each Archfey Warlock who sees the display falls into a spiral of depression and immediately retires from adventuring.

Looked at your sheet and saw that you've got a shield, so not using TWF then. I guess the shortsword and the handaxe are just alternative options depending on whether you're in melee or at range? Is your DM allowing the UA class variants? If so and you can use Cunning Action: Aim, then Reckless...

Although if you're taking that many barb levels you're giving up sneak attack dice. Plus if reckless attacking, which you probably want to do often, you're probably drawing attacks to yourself anyway, so not sure if Sentinel will trigger that often.

If your rogue is using strength anyway, Reckless Attack is really good, especially with a TWF rogue, and even moreso with being able to use Uncanny Dodge twice (which stacks with damage resistance from rage!). I would probably get that 2nd level of barbarian. Getting to Barb 2 / Rogue 7 gives...

D&D 5E (2014) New Fighting Styles That Don’t Overshadow Existing Ones

Yeah, keep an eye on that one. He's cheeky, but who nose what his future holds? Mustn't let his potential go to waist.

D&D 5E (2014) New Fighting Styles That Don’t Overshadow Existing Ones

I think it would be cool to make fighting styles more granular and let you pick up additional features as invocation-style abilities as you level up (and, like invocations, swap features out as you level). You could group the features into "paths" to guide players to selecting certain sets, but...

D&D 5E (2014) Interest in a Spelless, Yet Magical, Bard, Paladin, and Ranger?

That's fair! I've always been of the school that says that classes are really just bundles of mechanics, and the fluff is whatever you want to superimpose on that. Whereas the sentence, "spellcasting can often muddy and obscure the actual story of these classes" suggests a more narrative...

D&D 5E (2014) Interest in a Spelless, Yet Magical, Bard, Paladin, and Ranger?

I ran a one-shot recently which was set in 1980s New York, where the party was a new wave rock band, all either straight bards or multiclassed bards, each with a different subclass. I didn't change any of the mechanics, so all had spell slots and such, but the flavor was very different, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) [POLL] Best non-combat cantrips

The digging bit being restricted to loose earth is the biggest thing. I've seen people try to use it like it was Stone Shape. The other thing is trying to dig a pit that's deeper than 5'. When you excavate a cube you can only move it along the ground, so if you have a 5' pit you can't make it...

    D&D 5E (2014) [POLL] Best non-combat cantrips

Surprised more people didn't pick Mold Earth. I tend to think it's a bit overrated since people seem to think it can do all sorts of things the spell doesn't actually say it can do, but figured it'd be pretty popular.

    D&D 5E (2014) [POLL] Best non-combat cantrips

I know most people like Prestidigitation over Thaumaturgy and Druidcraft, and I don't deny that it's more versatile. But I personally find Thaumaturgy more fun. Booming voice, tremors, glowing red eyes, ominous whispers? Gold.

D&D General New D&D Boardgame Coming

Oh man! That game (was it called FirstQuest?) was my first exposure to D&D (after playing HeroQuest and wanting more crunch). I was suuuper excited about it (I think I was around ten, maybe?). Edit: Looks like it came out in 1994, so I guess I was older than ten.
