can i keep this githyanki, mom?

Keep him unconscious permanently? That would stop him from plane shifting :)

I Am Liberated (and my NPCs are too)

Mostly, yes. I did feel kind of embarrased when the players asked me what kind of armour the NPC was wearing, and I couldn't give an answer immediatly

    Six hour combats

The trolls had a rotation system going on, heavily damaged trolls would move back into the narrow cave to get healed. The AAO a player would get to get line of sight with the troll cleric would have been too much.

    Six hour combats

14 trolls in a narrow cave against 9th level PCs. The trolls had access to healing magic too (removing fire damage). It never actually ended. The bookkeeping was horrendous and I called it a stalemate.

Why there's crafting in WOW and not in D&D

I have never played WoW, but from what I gather, grinding for materials is a rather solitary experience. In D&D, there's usually around four people at the table. As much as it is annoying for the rest of the group if one player grabs the spotlight by being an actual thief, robbing houses and...

What about 4th edition made you go AHHHH this is D&D to me.

For me it was that I could hand over the keep on the shadowfell pregens, explain some differences in 2 minutes, and we started playing. Since I could do that, I fail to see why some others interpret 4e as a big divorce from 3.x. (edit: Note: that is my personal opinion)

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

A possible agenda can be inferred from WotC picking and placing the art. The fact that the distribution channel for cards means a certain percentage of cards is bought sight unseen is IMO not relevant. The secondary market also, is huge, and people often buy boxes of boosters, knowing full well...

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

I would just like to point out that Magic: the Gathering has very racially diverse art. Teferi is black, people from the entire Mirage setting were black, and even 10th edition art has a decent mix. edit: Which means I don't think WotC ahs any cultural agenda as such, either PC or purposefully...

Is switching Age of Worms to 4e halfway through worth it?

With many people complaining about DM burnout at high levels, I've decided to convert. Some conversions might be a pain, but at least play will go smoothly. The one person who I thought would like the change the least, has already given his okay. Thanks everyone. Rav

Is switching Age of Worms to 4e halfway through worth it?

I don't really do this - I tailor my group's abilities to the powerl level of the campaign :) . Perhaps it's best to stick to 3.5 then. I'll see what I can pillage from 4e. I'll refrain from informing my group for a moment, to see if there are other arguments around here. Rav

Is switching Age of Worms to 4e halfway through worth it?

Nothing like a new edition to start posting again, eh? Basically, the question I want to ask your advice for: should I convert my 3.5 game or not? Our group has just finished the 2nd adventure of the Age of Worms, and are now 5th level. I like 4th edition, from what I saw in Keep on the...

    Discussing the D&D economy

For me, currency problems are in the realm of having to tell the Dm that your character goes to sleep during the night, using the lavatory, ordering breakfast, buying shoes (and finding out that no cobbler in town has your size! Shock and horror!) and a slew of other wholeheartedly uninteresting...

    d6: pips or numbers?

I wasn't saying you count pips. But When someone rolls say, 10 numbered dice, I can immediatly after the roll see four 4s, three 3s etc. Pipped dice, I don't have to count the pips, but I do have to look at each die individually. I won't immediatly see how many 4s were rolled, hence not...

    d6: pips or numbers?

Exactly. I really can't understand people who say pips count faster, and I seriously doubt whether that is true, or whether these people only think it is true (the pictogram example above excepted). It takes me about three times longer to count pips, because instead of counting dice totals (4...

D&D 4E Should hit points continue to be generated randomly in 4e?

And do spell casters still use damage spells? And if they do, why?! "Hmmmm.... everything takes about 4 or 5 fireballs to kill, instead of 2 or 3... better switch to save or sleep/paralyze/die kind of spells" That is another problem with random rolled hit die rolling, as mentioned earlier...
