    Lovecraft's Moonbeast for 5e

Definitely a worthy question. According to the MM and DM Basic Rules: "Aberrations are utterly alien beings. Many of them have innate magical abilities drawn from the creature’s alien mind rather than the mystical forces of the world. The quintessential aberrations are aboleths, beholders, mind...

    Lovecraft's Moonbeast for 5e

I don't think there's any classic aberrations missing, but I do think there's ONLY the classics. I love the MM and there's tons of choices, but for my game personally I needed some more monsters of the type. Since others could be in the same boat, I decided to share mine.

    Lovecraft's Moonbeast for 5e

Thanks for the feedback! Here's my reasoning below, just so you know I was thinking about these things! I do a lot of my CR calculation by looking at other creatures of the same CR rather than using the guide in the DMG, since many of the creatures in the MM don't fit into the DMG guide. The...

    Lovecraft's Moonbeast for 5e

So I noticed that there's only 19 aberration stat blocks in the Monster Manual and that the highest CR aberration is a 14 (beholder in lair). Aberrations are the big villains in my home campaign, some I'm converting some of Lovecraft's horrors to give me a greater gallery of evil to pull from...

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

Reading all of this is very informative. I'm glad to see many different minds on the issue. Just a reminder that if you disagree with someone that doesn't mean that person is wrong. If economics were an exact science we'd all be billionaires.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

It's also a pretty smart plan. Offer part of something as PWYW, then release the full product, then go bigger with your next. Great idea and congrats! Not just beginner's luck. Hard work and a good plan pay off.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

Well I'll be! I have no idea how he did that. I tried a bunch with Greater & Elder Elementals. I know some of the resources are given for free.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

Impossible to do the DMs Guild. You can make PWYW, but the minimum price you can suggest is $0.50.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

I totally understand if cash is tight. Would you go back and review or even just rate a product then? That helps designers and publishers more than you know and doesn't cost a penny. Heck a simple rating takes a single click if you don't leave a review. Another way to appreciate a great product...

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

It seems to be a fairly common occurrence with PWYW across different companies and designers so I don't think so... Unless most everyone ends up hating all PWYW products.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

Wow. That's crazy, especially when you consider it's so easy to go back and pay something for a product after downloading it for free... I wonder why more people don't do that.

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

This is all really helpful information. It's great for a entry-level dude like myself to hear opinions of creators and consumers alike. Really, really great stuff. I love hearing people's opinions. I think one of the things I'm really learning is just how small the industry really is. How do we...

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

Hey all. I've got six Pay What You Want products on the DMs Guild and a lot of people have been asking me how it's been going and why I chose to go PWYW. I have an answer to both in my latest blog post. It's sort of interesting to see how the DMs Guild is doing for at least one creator a month...

    [En5ider #59] Epic Threats: Elementals

Also as a tie-in to this article I released a Pay What You Want PDF on the DMs Guild which converts the Greater and Elder elementals of editions past into fifth edition rules. It was a pretty easy conversion to do, but it's free (I'd have made it free if I could) and can save you some time if...

    [En5ider #59] Epic Threats: Elementals

Hey thanks for the kind words! In this case the word epic really refers to the fact that these are all CR 11+ monsters. I have to disagree that all Huge creatures should have legendary status. The Monster Manual set the precedent with giants, behirs, balors, remorhaz, fomorians and others being...
