The Hole has other uses, at least one that I can think of off-hand, and that's the simple fact that you are carrying around a Portable Hole. You could do semi-silly things like build/place a 'hut' inside of it and use it as a means of portable housing, it wouldn't be as obvious or consipicuous...

Hrm... I thought that the 'new and improved' definition of the Polymorph spell (both Self and Other) in Tome and Blood stated that you can actualy use Ex abilities now. Of course you can't do the 'dial a monster' trick of switching forms every round, but it's a fair trade-off in my opinion...
