D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

No, the gap between martial DPR and everyone else increases at higher levels, especially with the 2024 rules. Martial classes do NOT need a damage boost (well, maybe rangers and rogues). We're a year into the 2024 rules, more for those of us who were playtesting. We have plenty of data on lower...

D&D General Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

With respect, it is 100% a D&D cartoon, just with the serial numbers filed off. It is a direct adaptation of a D&D campaign. With regards to the growing scope of Critical Role's endeavours, according to the recent Rolling Stone article (also, they get a Rolling Stone article), they currently...

Which summer movies are you looking forward most to?

What makes this such a must-see? I don't know anything about the property. The original typo made me think it must be a religious film, but it's actually a vampire movie?

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

I am aware. I still think there should be a couple representatives of each of the major species in the MM.

I hate that analogy. I think it's condescending to fans of the game. I think 5e is very popular because it's an excellent game.

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

I use DDB for all of my prep, and that has a zillion options for sorting monsters, so I hadn’t really appreciated this issue at first. But I also bought a physical copy for patio reading and…yeah. OP’s not wrong. Also, no orcs or elves. Looks gorgeous, though, and the monsters are much...

D&D General Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

Do we know that they are going to be working on Daggerheart? WotC responded to the announcement by congratulating them and teasing new adventures and unexected reunions. Is it possible they will be taking charge of the pretty significant 5e wing of DP?

Something to vent out ,the story of how a vampire romance broke a west march server.

Why does this need multiple threads? Why is it being brought back up? Seems like an attempt to bring the drama from their game onto this forum.

This. Your character is not a person. If your character choices are creating tension, then that needs to be addressed. It’s impossible to judge the events of the OP based on one person’s account, except that it’s obvious miscommunication is at the heart of it, and drama ensued.

This is the most high school campaign I have ever heard of. And I run the D&D Club at a high school.

Which summer movies are you looking forward most to?

F4 is the only one that is guaranteed to put my butt in a seat, but as long as the reviews for Superman are even decent that’ll probably get me out, too. For the most part, now that I’m cranky and old I’d rather wait to watch at home or until they come back around to one of our small, artsy...

    VTT Recommendations?

I use the Maps VTT on D&DBeyond. It's really well integrated and very simple to use, which is about my speed. And uploading new maps is a breeze.

Oh, man... I'll let a Quebecois handle that one.

What Do You Call This Popular Beverage?

Can guarantee that I never heard anyone call a pop machine a pop "fountain", or the bar gun (that is what we called it; thanks for the reminder) a soda gun, but pop is seldom called soda where I live, and then mostly by American tourists (when I was younger, it was never used, to the extent that...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

I think the crux of the issue is that D&D's class system is intentionally designed so that there are distinct differences between classes, and especially between broad categories such as pure spellcasting classes and primarily martial classes. The play experience is supposed to feel distinct...

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

A used copy of the 1e Monster Manual that I bought off my friend’s brother for the best ten bucks I ever spent. I had that thing memorized.

    Trailer SUPERMAN Final

I think they thought Shazam was going to be a lot bigger. So did I - it's a good movie! Not totally sure on who the target audience is, though. I concur on this last trailer feeling a bit busy to me. Having a ton of colourful characters might work, though since this is the relaunch of Superman...

But also, sugar waters, of which they are the leading proponent, are a world-wide health catastrophe. They probably have as much blood on their hands as cigarrette companies.

What Do You Call This Popular Beverage?

I have never in my life heard it referred to as a soda fountain, except in what I though were kind of archaic American texts - like an old advertisement or something. When I worked at McDonalds, it was the "pop machine" and when I worked at a bar it was the...hmmm, I can't remember what we...

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

Most optimized options? The things I mentioned are standard, and I assume that the point is to give an accurate sense of what each is actually doing - your example gives the impression that the fighter is doing just a few points better than a wizard using firebolt, and that is not remotely the...
