I do! :) Spelljammer and Planescape were big favorites of mine back in the days of AD&D, even though I've used SJ far less than most other settings. I loved that age of sail vibe.

This is what I use: 5 feet - 1.5 meters 1 mile - 1.5 kilometers 1 pound - 0.5 kilograms 1 gallon - 4 liters It's not really accurate, but its easier for me to measure things in the fly using these numbers.

I'm very excited about 5e and I have high hopes for it. I don't ask for a perfect game rules-wise, but I'm banking a lot on the fluff.

They should've made clearer in the statblock that a Hobgoblin shooting with a bow loses the +2 AC bonus from the shield. Ranged fighting is not that cool if the enemy party's snipers can take you down more easily.

I'd really the poll to ahve a rather neutral answer such as "Neither" for people who are in the fence or just like all editions. Anyway, I am pretty sure I'm going to like this edition as much as AD&D 2e (my favorite edition so far), or perhaps even more. :)

Two approaches spring to mind: 1) Create a sort of hybrid background between the two, which is more broad but also less powerful. Say, if Background A gives proficiency in 2 skills and Background B in other 2, choose one from a background and one from the other. Also, come up with a new trait...

I agree both companies are competing to sell RPGs, but I contest the idea that WotC and Paizo are trying to compete by selling the same product ("same" as in a Coca Cola/Pepsi analogy). If WotC wanted DnD to directly compete with PF for the same audience, 5e would have a rather robust system...

IIRC, Rogue will have the "Criminal" Background. Don't know if this is a new Background or the new name for an existing one ("Guild Thief" and "Thug" spring to mind)

Elf thing I guess, since the "Keen Senses" racial feature in the Elf entry of the latest playtest didn't make it to the pregen. Perhaps the Perception proficiency is the new Keen Senses feature?

Well, it was quite bothersome to me. I remember preparing Fireball or Cloudkill or whatever and, just when I was ready to cast it, some ally got into the area and suddenly I was all "Well, there goes my striking power. Ok, I... shoot it with my crossbow -.-". Of course, YMMV and all that.

I highly doubt they'll be able to unify all fans under the banner of 5e, personally. For starters, most 4e fans I know are already determined not to like 5e because it's not like 4e (or because it avoids to be too much like 4e), and most OSR fans I know will probably give 5e a shot but stay...
