Planescape Planescape - what would you like to see?

I'm a sucker for Planescape and, if any new source material for 5e were to be published, I'd buy all of it in a shopping binge. I'd specifically like to see more on the Outlands and the so-called Planes of Conflict- that's where most of the fun is anyway ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls Dungeons & Dragons 5e interview, 6/26/14

Didn't draconic Sorcerers were the baseline in 3.X, though? In flavor, if not in mechanics, at least. I remember the fluff citing many times how sorcerer's had draconic heritage.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hobgoblin stat block

My assumption is that during the in-house playtest this didn't emerge as an issue because playtesters were fighting smart. 4 or 5 L1 PCs against 2 hobs is certainly an easy match if -say- you play your cards sensibly. Against reckless players, though, hobgoblins will be a though match in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls Dungeons & Dragons 5e interview, 6/26/14

My best guess is that they don't have the manpower at the time to devote time to the magazines, so they'll wait for the core books to be finished before bringing them back in 2015. I hope so, at least! :)

D&D 5E (2014) Where (and when) are you getting the Starter Set?

No LGS where I live, so I depend on Amazon. I hope it arrives in time and good shape (had my share of disappointments with damaged books)

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hobgoblin stat block

I can totally see the following situation at my table: -'You see three hobgoblins approaching, side by side.' -'I charge at them and stab the one in the middle with my sword' -'Good roll, one down! The one to your right moves out of your peripheral vision, while the other one swings its sword at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Petty Reasons I Might Buy 5e

    6. Flumphs! Flumphs everywhere! 7. People keep mentioning "Bounded Accuracy". I don't even know what that means, but I love big words. 8. I like the shiny new art! (I confess this is petty but 100% honest) 9. Hexmaps are back. I've never used one, but boy I sure like that old school feel!

    D&D 5E (2014) Human racial bonus in 5E

Ah, Farmlands & Housecats, the very low end of the D&D experience!

    D&D 5E (2014) Human racial bonus in 5E

Well, the Human Commoner entry in the playtest's Bestiary has nothing but 10s in its ability scores, so I'd say 5e assumes PCs are extraordinary specimens. I don't quite understand what use is the Human Commoner in the Bestiary, though.

I assume it's the entry for the Starter Set monster section, not the MM.

From now on, every Hobgoblin will carry a bag of allied rats. Just in case,

    D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set: Except 7

I'd expect to be artwork for most monsters somewhere in the book, especially those whose description is not intuitive (it's much more easy for the players to imagine a zombie or skeleton than a nothic, for instance).

This may be because the measure of leadership for generic evil humanoids is "the ability to beat your equals into the ground until they submit to your rule". Perhaps Strength is the goblinoid's Charisma?

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Hobgoblin stat block

Wow, 7 extra damage for a Challenge 1/2 monster sure looks brutal. Hobgoblins in large groups will dangerous even for higher level characters. EDIT: if Hobgoblins are CR 1/2 monsters, I guess it's safe to assume regular Goblins are CR 1/4 monsters, right?

Running the Starter Set with Adventurer's League

Nice sheet! I don't do OP, but they look beautiful IMO, especially the layout of the second page. :D

    D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set: Except 7

My best guess is that size will be reflected on the creature's hit points, ability scores and reach instead of being a standardized mechanic as in 3.X

    Team Players

Usually we follow this process: 1) We get together to discuss what kind of game we want to play. 2) We compromise on classes based on what classes each of us wants to play. 3) We generate characters according to the previous steps. 4) We brainstorm how the party met, why they are together and...
