If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

Hey, you don't need to defend yourself. This is why we're here. (Besides, your defense came too late anyway. My barb had already struck home)

HeroForge Mini - A sample for your viewing

As a shortcut, and because I had an itch to paint a couple minis, I picked up the starter set of Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments. The adventurers set with a Minsc and Boo miniature. It might have actually been seeing the paint in the game store that gave me the itch in the first place.

A different opinion about feats--rethinking "situational"

Doh! I really was editing that post to include the rest of what I meant to say, but in composing it I realized I wasn't saying it well and abandoned the post . . . forgetting that I had already posted the first bit until @Warpiglet gave it a laugh. Well, me being me, I gotta keep it as a joke...

D&D 5E (2014) To boxed text or not to boxed text

I can't whistle, so I used audio from the movie! The scenario I used had Orcs forcing a captured NPC adventuring party to build a bridge across a river of lava so they could reach the tomb on the other side. The NPCs were whistling to help guide would-be rescuers to their location. The party...

A different opinion about feats--rethinking "situational"

I don't really think it scares players. Not many of them, anyway. I think it's a thing that scares us Forumite DMs. We seem to want every option available to be equally relevant to . . . Danggit clicked reply accidentally. Wait a few minutes.

No kidding. You couldn't even persuade yourself. :p

Option overload: ASI increased or feat for 8th level choice?

I believe certain mobile versions of this forum present just one rating option, a like, and that winds up registering as a laugh.

D&D 5E (2014) To boxed text or not to boxed text

Awesome. My game full of stuff referencing other stuff. This can be the bit that references your game. Not that anyone at my table will get a reference to Immortal Sun . . . but then I got blank stares when I referenced Bridge on the River Kwai, too. So, yeah.

A GMing telling the players about the gameworld is not like real life

I admire your optimism. *Furiously googles hawkeyefan's address* I mean it's Hawkeye, how many fans can there be?

And of course D&D, back when we were young and would kill off a pal's PC "for fun."

Or even just a run of the mill D&D dungeon crawl . . . *Scribbles down a note to place a haunted house that's still mysteriously standing smack in the middle of a collapsed residential zone in the ruins of Moria*

Wait. The curry is made by jawas? That's not worth my vote.

Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

The last time i had a familiar it was a bat, too. Not for the blindsight. I just wanted to call my character Batgnome.

Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

This is a much pleasanter reason for telling a player he can't reskin the owl as a hawk. I know I'd much prefer to be told that than being accused of being a munchkin.

If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

In your defense, as a DM, I totally preferpre tell the players the DC before they roll the dice. It lets them know if they succeed, instantly as soon as the d20 stops rolling. Before I know, even! In many circumstances, too, I'll tell them exactly what success and failure will mean, too. It...
