D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

It's the only reason I own any version of Zombicide. It was a great way to get a lot of Old West miniatures for use with Deadlands.

D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

I own a crap ton of Games Workshop miniatures, so I'm in no position to talk about "realistic" purchases. (Looks back at $1,200 worth of Imperial Knights sitting on his shelf.) The folks I know who have purchased from Hero Forge aren't typically the type of folks who are big into miniatures...

D&D General Greyhawk: Snarf's Guide to Ready-Made Campaign Themes!

It's been a running gag through the whole adventure so far. Every single time a PC says Becky the NPC they're talking to asks, "With the good hair?"

D&D General Greyhawk: Snarf's Guide to Ready-Made Campaign Themes!

My Greyhawk campaign is going along swimmingly. The PCs are currently in the Gnarly Forest because Becky with the Good Hair, a recently divorced beekeeping storm giantess, possesses the mellified body of Chef Ramsay which the PCs are hoping to get their hands on. Poor Becky is beset by...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

No so much a recent purchase as a delivery on a pre-order. I ordered God's Hunt for Delta Green last year and it arrived via the United States Postal Service yesterday. God's Hunt is a series of individual scenarios that can be used along with the campaign God's Teeth. I haven't had an...

    Still the best Superman theme.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

My store stopped carrying Reaper a few years before COVID even hit and only started stocking them again this past month. Reaper seems to be doing okay overall. They started a pilot program selling their miniatures under another brand name at various Michael's locations and plan on expanding...

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

None of that really changes that there was a fair amount of skullduggery (I love that word) on the part of Williams in her takeover of TSR. I don't say that to suggest her actions existed in a vacuum or to vilify her, just that her actions give me the "pretty sneak, sis," vibe. Telling the...

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

It's a reminder of just how low paying the RPG industry can be. TSR was all too happy to pay low wages, knowing there weren't many other places employees could go if they wanted to keep working on games. He really, really did. Hubris, thy name is Gary. He was also offered something like...

D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

Ditto. For the price point, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. Though I do have some players who are quite happy with theirs. Sometimes they'll order a miniature from HF when the campaign begins and I just hope for their sake their character is still alive when the miniature arrives.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

It's walk-in only. While they'll announce a sale online, you've got to walk in and see what's actually on the table. I was surprised to see so many WizKids models. But then it hasn't looked like they've been restocking for a few months now.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

In other miniatures news, my FLGS recently cleared their shelves of most WizKids miniatures, placing them in the 30% off section of the store. Part of the shelf space is now devoted to Reaper, which is nice, but last time I was there the entirety of the space hadn't been filled. I'm wondering...

What are some alternate ways to think about archetypes?

In Cyberpunk 2020, there were various roles characters could have which included Solo (combat person), Corporate, Rocker Boy (rock star), Nomad, Lawman, etc., etc. Not so much in the main book, but in subsequent materials produced for the game, you were encouraged to use these templates in odd...

D&D General Arneson, Gygax, and Lawsuits, Oh My! An Actual History of the OG D&D Litigation

During new employee orientation I go over benefit options with our freshly hired employees. Once in a while I'll say something like, "AD&D doesn't mean Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, it means accidental death & dismemberment."

A lot of times, a cloak will give you an opportunity to paint something interesting.

    Marvel Television's Ironheart | Official Trailer | Disney+

One of my favorite series of all times is Marvel Team-Up from 1972 to 1985 which typically featured Spider-Man teaming up with some other hero or team. But since it was its own series, the a team up never interfered in what was happening in X-Men, Power Man & Iron Fist, or even Spider-Man's own...

    Most influential RPG

There have been a few that approached D&D but certainly never became as successful. Vampire the Masquerade in the 1990s was never a household name, but it did become famous/infamous enough it appeared in an episode of Real Stories of the Highway Patrol (A COPS knockoff), the hit television...
