Woohoo! Mostly fixed (was Got a new computer and need help...)

In a word, yes Win98 is causing your problems. Ditch it quickly. You might be able to play the Sims 2 in Cedega. It's $15 for a 3 month license, and is fairly good software. That and a Mandrake 10 install would have you up and running in less time than Win98 install.

    What's up in fantasy?

My post is still relevent. And notice the text I put in parentheses. Saying that the bible is one of the "only" stories is a bit ludicrous considering it's not even remotely the original source for the material contained within. I'll not post again, since I seem to have summoned an angry mob...

    What's up in fantasy?

Right well, I'm not saying anything pro or con about religion, nor talking religion at all. I merely stated that the bible is a derivative work, which is relevent to the topic of writing, which is what this thread seems to be about. *shrug*

    What's up in fantasy?

The bible? How about not. Sorry, but the bible is a hugely derivative work. Claiming that it's one of the only "true" (or however you wish to phrase that) stories because it's original is completely illogical. I have a sneaking suspicion that your teacher was somehow biased.

    City based adventures

I always have a hard time with the city based portions of campaigns. I tend to make it so that my players can go any way they want, and that's hard to do in a city setting, since so much of the city is left bare. If I had my way, I'd have full maps of everything in the city.

DMG II - tidbits from Andy Collins!

That's great to hear. Thanks for replying :)

Attn: Users under the age of 20 (or thereabouts)

I'm 20, but I started playing when I was 12, and I don't find many players my own age. I know about 7 other people (internationally) that also play D&D (and P&P in general) that are my age.

DMG II - tidbits from Andy Collins!

No offense to said person or people, but whoever it is that decides the colors of the books and what covers they should have should just be fired. They apprently don't understand anything at all about branding. They're screwing new players up and decreasing sales by going every which way with...

    Web hosts - recommendations?

I use www.hardhathosting.com . They have the single most awsome Customer Support you could ever want (to the extent that they've helped me with scripts I was writing, no way you'll get that from larger hosts). They offer a plan that's $10.49 for 150MB of space, 10GB of bandwidth, and 5 POP/FTP...

Xbox versus PS2 for the discerning adult

If you get a modded Xbox, it's worth it. Otherwise, RPGs on PS2 are better. The media functions on the Xbox make it way more worth it. I use mine with Linksboks for surfing. The KotOR (especially KotOR2) games are probably the best CRPGs I've played in a long time. If you've a nice computer...

    Tablet PCs

Heard about that today. You can manually end and restart tabtip.exe and that will fix it too (because when tabtip.exe is ended, it frees all it's allocated memory). That's what I plan to do. If you feel like leaving it on for extended periods of times while you'll be away, just end tabtip.exe...

    Tablet PCs

Yes indeed I am converted! I wouldn't have bothered to go on the site and see if I'd be approved for financing had it not been for this thread. Thanks guys. :D

    Tablet PCs

I just bought one of these from Gateway. Won't ship out for 2 weeks! :( Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get as much stuff ready for it as I can :)

    I love Firefox!

Yeah, I use IE to test my sites too. The Web Developer extension is so incredibly useful, I have no idea how I functioned with out it.

    I love Firefox!

I've used Firefox for a while now. It's vastly superior to IE, and from my experience the extensions top it off to make it better than Opera. I've used many many browsers for extended amounts of time, IE 3, 4, 5, 6, Netscape 3, 4, 7, Opera 6, 7, Konquerer (can't recall versions), Safari etc...

    Return of Fold-Up Paper Model!

Janx, the stuff you guys sell is awesome. Unfortunately at the moment I have no use for it, as I play solely via OpenRPG, but if I were DMing a game using miniatures, that's the first site I'd go to. OOo quite inexpensive too.

Module Outliner Text Editor? Anyone know?

Maybe ~5 years ago I had downloaded a program that was basically a text editor geared at outlinging campaigns/modules. It had things to help you enter modules and the like (options for "new module" and it would put in a skeleton of the module all formatted and the like). I'm having a devil of...

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

Ah, was what I suspected on the other page then. I can understand why they don't do it though, it would seriously hinder my writing if I had to stop and index-mark a word every time.
