    D&D 5E (2014) Polymorph: T-Rex and Giant Ape

My players battled a 4 eyed (two were blind and vestigial) creamcicle colored giant ape named Copper Tooth at level 4 so... yeah, as long as he gets to come back for a cameo.

    D&D 5E (2014) Revamped Ability Score Bonuses

I often think making Perception an ability score would clean things up a lot for me. Perception is a pretty useful saving throw and attaching ranged attacks to it would make DEX less of a no-brainer and give STR a boost. Never tried it though. Too lazy to try to make a nice character sheet.

D&D 5E (2014) My dwarf fighter is always last into combat?

I've never experienced this, but my character in D&D has.

D&D 5E (2014) do you still roll for damage?

I usually roll unless it's npc vs npc, but I did a game of Speed D&D at Gen Con and I used averages for that as just because I am bad at math and didn't wanna waste time.

    Planescape WOTC teasing planescape.com

New Ranger is actually a perfect fit for Planescape cuz it comes with a built in caveat of "they are like this on some planes of existence. Check with your DM"

D&D 5E (2014) Let us stat up Conan the *insert sub-title here*

I agree with those saying he doesn't need any rogue levels.

"Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers

I'm gonna be one of the odd ducks who thinks DUST is a Zarakhara adventure set in The Realms.

D&D 5E (2014) What new classes do you think we need?

I would abide some sort of Warlord (I think a Bard subclass could get it done though - Still I see a non-magical non-Bard archetype ) but so don't personally see the need for any new base classes. If the system had stronger high level play, that would serve a stronger function for class experience

    D&D 5E (2014) Homebrew Miracle Domain - Charisma Cleric

This thread has got me like... Man, I have succeeded on a lot of saving throws against these charismatic types over the years.

D&D 5E (2014) Keepiing Current HP from players...

As a DM I think it does the opposite of what you would want. It would create a situation where players roleplay their characters poorly or "wrong" because they have misunderstood some math. In the game, HP an abstraction. Every "hit" is not a literal hit and anything to the counter gets silly...

    D&D 5E (2014) UA Warforged vs. Keith Baker's Warforged

I ended up borrowing from both versions and making one of my players a Warforged option using these ideas on a Dwarf chassis.

    Planescape 101 Planescape Portals/Keys

    3. The Soundless Bell A large clock sits atop a tower. The intricate clockwork and some regular maintenance has kept it accurate for generations and it chimes a droning chime every hour on the hour. The face of the clock is also a portal which only appears when nobody hears it's hourly chime...

D&D 5E (2014) Why not write spellbooks in Common?

As someone who cannot code. I think coding is an amazing example.

Speculation about "the feelz" of D&D 4th Edition

I'm not sure I follow. 5e is incredibly modern and focused design as far as D&D goes, and boy does it borrow from a few indie RPGs. Not being snarky, but as someone who fetishizes all of those things I was genuinely confused.

    D&D 5E (2014) Whatever "lore" is, it isn't "rules."

This is one of those gripes that is so inherently confusing to me that it makes me wonder if I am really good at D&D or really bad at D&D.

D&D 5E (2014) Uses for the Medicine skill

Help an npc survive birthing a demon, let players determine the nature of an ailment, identify remains, identify the tools cultists are using and what they might be using them for in a dark ritual, determine a cause of death, help an NPC with specific injuries and give the king cpr

    D&D 5E (2014) Interrupting a Long Rest

You know, since players can only take 1 long rest every 24 hours, maybe this streamlines things more than I expected.

    D&D 5E (2014) Interrupting a Long Rest

In my games I make a 20 point list for every dungeon. Higher the number, the "worse" the disruption. The lower numbers feature either "nothing happens" or maybe some fun flavor text about spooky sounds or finding a cool looking stone. If players take a short rest or make a loud noise or...
