    No XP campaign

well, i tried to tone it down when we used the CR system, but if you check almost EVERY adventure in Dungeon Magazine, it says that "by the end of the adventure the characters should achieve a level". I feel it should take many sessions and several years to achieve even 10th level, let alone epic.

    No XP campaign

Umm.. this might suit better in the General Discussion message board, so feel free to move this thread :)

    No XP campaign

I DM a no-xp campaign. I never felt comfortable with the CR system and the fact that characters were 15th level by the age of 22 and after 15-20 sessions. So in this campaign I've started now all characters gains a new level whenever I say so.. about every third session or so. This works...

    Spot

So all spot checks are 10 + skill bonus? I usually let my players roll for spot, if not, it would be practically impossible to spot something at lower levels.

    Spot

Almost all spot checks are done involuntary, right? But what about spotting invisible? Is that also automatically checked for when in the vicinity of an invisible creature, or only when the player actively tries to spot for it?

    Poisoned Swords

Thanks a lot! I guess I could have checked with the DMG myself, but sometimes you receive an answer before you can get the book. :)

    Mirror of Opposition

In one upcoming adventure, the characters walk into a room with a mirror of opposition. How should I handle this? SHould I automatically duplicate everyone, only those who actually say that they look into the mirror, or pick one or two randomly? The latter seems most fair and reasonable, as it...

    Poisoned Swords

How long would the poison on someones sword last? How many doses before it becomes to little to have an effect? Any official ruling on this?

    Pandemonium in the Veins

The group consists of the following: Human Fighter/Rogue/Master of Chains 4/1/3 Halfling Rogue/Barbarian 1/7 Drow Rogue/Psychic Warrior 2/6 Human Cleric 8 Human Rogue/Harper Scout 5/3 The rogue/scout is not a good fighter type.. he excels at interacting with npc's, diplomacy, that kind of...

    Pandemonium in the Veins

Well, all the opponents are of a lower level than the pc's, so even if they are numerically even matched, the players have the advantage of levels. In addition, they have quite a deal of magical equipment, and the NPC's have not.

    Pandemonium in the Veins

I don't know if you are familiar with this adventure, it was in the Dungeon issue 96. Anyway.. the heroes are gladiators taking part in a tournament for the team championship. In the first match they meet 3 brothers and their hell hound pet, and if they win, they will face 3 other gladiators in...

Another I've been officially kicked out of my group thread..

These stories make us DMs look really bad. Is it really grown-up people you are talking about here?

    Recommended Levels for Adventure

It'll be a half-elven ranger (Monte Cooks ranger) played by a newbie.. I don't know what adventure to use yet, but I will try to find one that will appeal to rangers.

    Recommended Levels for Adventure

The default norm for an adventure goes something like this: this adventure is suitable for four adventurers of 1st level. What if I wanted to play this adventure using only one character? What level should she be? I would say 4th or 5th... any ideas?

    Solo adventure for ranger

    Solo adventure for ranger

Hi, I am trying to teach my girlfriend how to play d&d, and need some help. We do not actually have anybody else to play with, so I have to give her some solo action. She wants to be a ranger, and I would love to hear it if anybody knew of a solo adventure for a ranger (preferrably low-level...

My new character: Master of Chains

First off, let me say that master of the chains is one of the most interesting prC's out there. And the spiked chain is THE most powerful weapon! I play a rogue/fighter as well, 5th level, so she isn't master of chains yet... and in the campaign where I dm, one of them is playing an 8th level...

    Weight

yes it is. Players Handbook in Norwegian would have been fun, but almost all of my players are quite capable in English so it's really ok for us.
