    Vancian Magic?

All along, WotC has said that the Vancian system would be reduced in importance. Sounds good to me, but has the new spell slot/level system been shown? So far, I haven't seen ANY real hints of a vancian system of spell slots. Did I miss it? Will it fall into the Utility;at Will; Encounter and...

    Two Weapon Fighting Speculation

I would rather see a different style of attacks/disarms/options with two weapon fighting rather than just extra attacks. The idea that you get more swings in 6 seconds seems silly, but you certainly could employ two weapons to gain a different technique that should play different than other...

    D&D 4E 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

I scared: Every fighter will still feel like every other fighter. Every wizard makes the same choices or else is obviously subpar. Having bad guys that are character classes (i.e. bad guy wizards, etc...) will prove too difficult to manage once you are marking everyone on each side of the...

    Attributes

Dexterity could be interpreted to represent certain types of "strength". To me, Strength score respresents bulk and power vs. Dexterity representing control. If it really mattered, then you could make a feat with a Strength requirement for the bow.

    D&D 4E 4E ability scores

It seems some ability scores will be reduced in effect and others will receive a bump. I am curious if we will still need a stat score of 10+X to cast a X-level spell.

    Anyone seen 3:10 to Yuma?

I liked it, but its not top 10 material. Captures the American Civil War notion of honor very well. I have a feeling that the deleted scenes will be quite good. John

    Time for some Black Pages?

Hey, there is no need to be logical. John

    Time for some Black Pages?

Maybe it was all speculation, but the year before 3e was released was a lot of fun on my end. I definitely don't want the designers to spill the beans and give out a lot of information. I just want real tidbits to help fuel the fire. I'm excited/hopeful that 4e will be great. In all...

    What are the biggest threats?

That is scary, but I'm not sure how much the DI will actually cost. If Dragon and Dungeon suffer for being online, they can still be returned to print and possibly benefit from a short absence (in terms of sales). The Digital Initiative could be spun as an advertising gimmick if it truly...

    Time for some Black Pages?

This is not a rant I'm not sure how early the Black Pages showed up, but it was at least nine months prior to the 3e PHB. Also, the Black Pages grew over that nine months as more information "leaked". The 4e advertisement started out strong, but seems to be getting too fluffy for my taste. John

    Time for some Black Pages?

For 3e, Eric Noah put out the infamous 'Black Pages' that outlined all the new iterative attacks, BAB progression, Saves, Special abilities for the 3e classes,......and they rocked. So, I'm ready for the 4e versions. There has to be at least one class that WotC has finished up except for minor...

    Are Ability scores still dominant?

I would prefer to see ability scores remain relevant, but not overwhelming in importance. The wizard should benefit from a high Intelligence rather than be punished for a moderate intelligence. There are many aspects to the spell system where ability modifiers could be critical, especially...

    Are Ability scores still dominant?

Will my wizard need to have an Intelligence 25 to cast 25th level spells? I think not. Or maybe so,.... Maybe the Intelligence bonus would add advantages as a Warmage gains. Also, high Int might make certain feats available. John

D&D 4E Are you happy with the coverage of 4e so far?

We have too much fluffy propaganda and not enough concrete examples of what is possible. For 3e, we had black pages detailing the new full attack option and Weapon Specialization, etc..... So far, 4e is just names of various components or new classes but no meat. john

D&D 4E Was Monte's decision to retire influenced by 4E?

Since Monte Cook doesn't work at WotC, he is pretty much going at it alone. While it sounds cool and is no doubt rewarding, putting out books like Arcana Evolved and Ptolus would wear you down. I hope that Mr. Cook is off refreshing his creative juices. He may come back to contribute to the...

Best BSG episode to date (new series) and why?

Cain vs. Adama...... If Adama finds Earth, then there will be great rejoicing. Then they'll have to join forces to fight off the cylons. Once Cain had raped every cylon to death, then she'd go find Earth and conquer it. Starbuck made the statement at Cain's funeral, "we'd have been safer...

    DM's forfeit power

3rd edition places more burden on the PCs to responsibly build and roleplay. I agree with Biggus. In earlier editions, my games were DM vs. PC's. It was too hard to keep up with building multiple characters from behind the DM screen and someone was always wanting more or different. I couldn't...
