    Bluff for CA

I've always been tempted to houserule that Bluff for CA is a minor action, and the Changeling Trick is a free action, but I've never DM'ed a party composition in which it would have mattered.

What's your favorite form of racial support?

I prefer the original design - a race's nature is expanded by feats - than new stuff that muddles up with the old design, even though I think racial powers make a hell of a lot more design sense. For one thing, the 'feat tax' made sense to me, because it balances the 'extreme' stuff unique to a...

    Bluff for CA

I've used it several times, but only because I like playing Changeling Rogues.

    A Naming Convention

I think i'd stretch this convention further by allowing oneself to take liberties with pronounciation and spelling. Because seriously? The number of people named "Jay-something" would bother me. I'm M.A., so I guess I'd go with Eimaw as in "Ei-Muhw" because "Emma" won't work.

How do you fluff a character level?

Great advice and definitely something I'm going to consider.

How do you fluff a character level?

I don't have a problem coming up with that, I've already defined motivations and goals. He's rather aimless long-term wise but incentives are numerous, and designed specifically for the DM to hook things onto. I also came up with one relative (half-brother), one ex-associate (former party-mate)...

The flattening of Dungeons and Dragons

I blame the French, who couldn't leave the pancake alone when they invented the crepe.

How do you fluff a character level?

I'm currently developing my character's personality and other fluff-oriented material, using the mechanics to anchor my ideas. I've already used deities to cement outlook and ability scores and alignment to develop personality. Nothing new about doing that. My concern is how to address...

Fun vs. Reality: a false dichotomy?

I am sick and my ears are clogged to high hell, so it is difficult for me to articulate my response, so allow me to make a partial response until I can get back to it: The fun vs. realism dichotomy is a false dichotomy IMHO. It assumes that insofar as design is concerned, realism is a rigid...

Good Star Trek RPG for the kind of player/GM I am.

Those are all very very excellent points, though I'd like to point out that it is a mistake to assume that I would expect Trek combat to be D&D combat. Also, saying that D&D4 skill checks are just roll a number and determine the result makes it sound like that is a bad thing which other systems...

A reason why 4E is not as popular as it could have been

I absolutely do not get how the OP's discussion of the shortcomings of WotC's notion of campaign support is makes him/her one of the "people who continue to post these types of threads" about edition wars, unless you were addressing Moleculo's remark about how 4E don't smell like DnD. And even...

Good Star Trek RPG for the kind of player/GM I am.

Heard of those, but the quirks of each system are so frequently discussed that I was hoping a Star Trek fan who is currently using a more modern system or a experienced with player with hands-on knowledge of those games would help me distinguish which one suits my needs. Off the cuff, my goals...

    ENantiodromia

I think Every Single Thread About 4E Ever on Enworld rapidly devolves into a metagame about WotC as a whole.

Why is "I don't like it" not good enough?

I think the disagreement on the player's side has more to do with being unable to accept to what extent the GM should even be obliged to rationalize the dislike. I'm going to side with the GM here, if only because if he says he doesnt like 'unobtainium', 'adamantium' or 'residuum', and says 'I...

Good Star Trek RPG for the kind of player/GM I am.

I'm a big Star Trek fan, the level-headed kind that is totally okay with The Original Series, the new Abrams reboot and Enterprise and I keep hearing a lot on the podcast, Fear the Boot about their games of Star Trek. I'm curious if there're any good RPGs based on the franchise out there, or at...

The Purchase DC of the National Debt

This isn't so hard to do, and it would be easier if you used the Resources ability from Marvel Super Heroes. Just find a guy with Unearthly (100) Resources and spend a great big chunk of karma on a Resources FEAT roll to get the Red success and you're done.

D&D 4E Well, Its Official. 4E is Going Online

Agreed. You could say all you want about collectibles-driven products like 'clix' and cards being schilled by 'money-grubbing whores' but these kinds of products gave the FLGS something with turnover, which is what they really need to stay in business.

    I Want More Nentir Vale!

I never really followed the Nentir Vale, though I do use the "Core World" as the assumption in my Chaos Scar game. I'd really support having a Nentir book if only because I couldn't be bothered to piece together the world from various details spread between the various books.

D&D Video Game and Movie Rights

Semi-related query: Is creative consulting for cross media ventures part of Perkins' job description? I was under the impression that as Senior Producer, he focused more on RPGs and the media exposure he gets doing celebrity games is merely a side-thing that extends naturally from his previous...

    Optimizing my Dragonborn Thaneborn Barbarian

So, we've been playing pretty religiously and I've leveled him up to level 6, taking the Resourceful Leader multiclass and retraining one of his utilities into Vengeance is Mine (immediate reaction to an enemy's successful attack on him = he MBAs and ally shifts his speed to make an extra MBA)...
