    Creature size and cover

I think RAW makes no differentiation because it doesn't intend to. If you want to house-rule a "small creatures get +1 to stealth", though, that's your call.

Why couldn't he hide with the partial cover? Was someone observing him?

    Dynasty Warrior style campaign

I've recently been playing a game of Dynasty Warriors 7 with one of my friends, and I realized it has quite a few elements of a successful D&D campaign, and I instantly began intuiting ways to duplicate the feel of the game in D&D. Now, mind you, I'm not going to model a campaign directly off...

Need Advice - Story Hook "Vision"

A soothsayer once told me that a prophecy is what will happen if nothing is done to stop it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

I don't encourage it. Personally, I find it unbalanced. However, I know people who really like to roll their stats.

    Newbie Question on Skill Challenges

I would have to agree with the people who say they integrate the skill challenges into the overall RPing of the game. When a player can't distinguish between just RPing and a skill challenge, you've done your job.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

That's definitely how older editions worked, I simply thought it was a bad part of the game, not an "essential" part of it. If you remove the bad things, but leave the good things, then it qualifies as a new edition, so long as nothing has been pointlessly changed. The stats, however, do not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

You think an essential aspect of D&D was that the classes were not evenly powered?

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

There are those who do, but I also agree that it'd be easier with electronic books if only for the ease of packing. When push comes to shove, though, people make illegal PDFs of the books anyway, so I don't know why the company producing them would not simply sell their own copies. It's kind of...

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

I find it weird how you can put something in the holding pen, but you can't save a list of monsters you want in there for easy reference during a several session long adventure.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

How much can you change a game and call it a new edition instead of a new game, is the question. I have ideas for games, and I got a lot of ideas from other games, but even if I had the rights, I wouldn't call it a new edition of the games I got ideas from. They're simply not similar enough.

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

Why does everyone think electronic versions of the rules books are such a fantastic idea? Maybe I'm just getting old, but physical books made form paper are actually easier to use. Need information from inside the book? Open it! Bam, it's all right there, and you can easily flip between two or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

I'm not sure many people would be comfortable playing a game called "Dungeons and Dragons" which did not have a scale for stats along the "3-18" lines. While stats are effectively -5 though 5 and higher, I think it'd be wiser to maintain the stats, but come up with a way for the actual number...

Well, by New Hope, Yoda was 800 years old. I have no idea how much fighting he has or has not seen in his long life, but this fight scene leads me to conclude; Quite a bit.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weighing in on 5e

I get that, it simply doesn't settle well with me. I prefer playing such things, not ruling them. That first level smith could make decent weapons, with the masterwork swords after a few levels... but it takes a commoner forever to gain levels, generally. Whereas this smith finds a good...

I also had a character like that. I'm not saying adventurers cannot be some of the best cooks on the planet, only that it's silly to make it so easy for someone who's primary job is to kill monsters. The role-playing the cooking and the practice is indicative that he'd be a great cook. But...

    Autolevelling Items

I'm not going to bother reading all the replies, and maybe my advice is late. If so, simply ignore it; This is a common thing I do with my campaigns. I usually allow each character to have one "Heirloom item", which can have been given them by a family member, a teacher/mentor, a weird old man...

Get something that allows you to print the character sheet into a PDF, like "CutePDF", then try the PDF file you make with it.
