    oldest theory disproved(ot but great)

It is straightforward to discuss evolutionary biology without recourse to religion or politics, but as the creationist movement is solely religious / political, problems will arise at that point. For example, the support for William Dembski's flawed attempt to treat evolutionary biology...

[OT] I'm now a husband--with pics to prove it

Congratulations! At one point, in a letter to a cousin of mine, I asked how marriage was treating him. His response was "as well as I treat it" In the four years I've been married, this has been quite good advice. Harry

    oldest theory disproved(ot but great)

Actually, it is that definition of evolution used here that is flawed. In this first case, biological evolution is the field of study examining the development of life over time. The actual study of the initial development of life would be the related but separate field of abiogenesis. In the...

    (OT) Discworld: system for setting?

I also agree that you would need something quick and adaptable. I haven't played Savage World, so in my opinion the best, most free-flowing game system would be the old D6 version of Star Wars - widely printed, so it should be available in discount bins. Switch out "the force" for wizardry &...

Old man? I'm 35 now, with 36 this summer, which means that if you keep it up, I can run for president an nuke yer sorry %$@%$.

At the very least, they should instruct the store owners to squish 'em under a stack of books for an hour or so to make them more appealing.

Say ... I'm currently living in Kingsville, (near Corpus Christi) and I've had that problem with Savage Species, Arms & Equipment, Fiend Folio... It's good(?) to know that its like that everywhere, or I'd have to drive to Lousiana or Matamoros. As posted above, I fixed mine the same way you did.

Any word yet on 3.5 Paladins?

Re: Yes, the word is b'wubble (it had to be said by someone) The reason I avoided Batman is because I have watched long threads come and go on other boards debating what alignment Batman is. For myself, I would not say that Batman is a consistent LG, and while Superman is LG, that does not...

    WotC warped book covers...

My copies of the Arms & Equipment guide, Fiend Folio, and a couple of the other recent books are like this. A little time in a moderately tight bookshelf has straightened mine out, though. I bought the bent copies to support my FLGS over the B&N or Waldenbooks, but they were fixable. Surely...

    New marilith/balor pictures

Quite so, and I believe he had to have his eyelid held open in battle by a staff - a little different than the Type-VI Demon.

    New marilith/balor pictures

It is interesting to me how much of D&D's history is denying Tolkien's influence (e.g., halflings - hobbits in the first printing, orcs, treants). I have never considered the balor a rip-off of the balrog (pretty quintessential demon), but does anyone else see any resemblence between this and...

Any word yet on 3.5 Paladins?

True enough, but the paladin as it developed through the romances - including the work you mention - were portrayed as the then current version of "LG". Of course (thankfully) this differs from most people's modern interpretation of what it means to be both lawful and good. To find a perfect...

I agree with your assessment of Carl Sargent's work completely. Is he still in the industry somewhere?

Any word yet on 3.5 Paladins?

Because that's where the name and concept of the paladin originated. I don't have Chaotic Neutral paladins in my games for the same reasons I don't have Halfling Ninjas or Gnome Samurai. To do so would be to so stretch the class concept such that it wouldn't be the same class. The probable...

    Anthony Valterra breaks his silence

Sorry about that, then. I still think that discussions that go into individual religious beliefs, political beliefs, or philosophical beliefs will get closed down pretty quickly. I tried to put in a smiley-face after that sentence. We have several sources, some of which are providing...

    church-going commoners; magical tombstones

How about a "floating" +1 or +2 bonus that can be applied to a skill check or saving throw once/day, as long as the individual is in good standing with his deity and the goal is commesurate with his choice. For example: "O good Apollo, for this last emprise Make of me such a vessel of thy...

    Anthony Valterra breaks his silence

Re: Why controversy? Your use of combative language right out of the gate makes we wonder if this is a troll. Would you like to close this thread? I'm sure there are plenty of things you could try and post directly that would do it. I do admit that trying to move the thread into discussing...
