Blackguard Design & Development is up.

I notice your answer to why this at-will is crap is that there are feats that give you CA. But IMHO if I don't need to spend a feat because I have an at-will that gives me the CA I need, all the better, I can use my feats for other things, like survival, or a better weapon, or expertise. And you...

Blackguard Design & Development is up.

Aegeri, I just want to make sure you're not overreacting here, go back and look at the at-will again. It doesn't give CA against the creature you hit, but the first enemy you attack before the end of your next turn, and if I remember correctly from what people have been saying the Blackguards...

    Design & Development - Necromancy & Nethermancy

Actually...+1d6 per bonus when you crit. And if you hate having all the characters increase in power equally, have them choose between offence and defence, so instead of +1 to Atk/Dmg at level 2 they get +1 to their defences and vice versa. The whole point of the inherent bonus system is to keep...

    Design & Development - Necromancy & Nethermancy

I just want to be sure, but you do realize that Inherent Bonuses apply to hit and damage right, it's not just an attack boost.

    Heroes of Shadow's Feat Preview

If memory serves, Executioners get Weapon Finesse like Thieves and Scouts.

    Holy Symbol as Mage Implement?

There is a holy symbol that can be used as a mage implement, I believe it's Ioun's though I may be mistaken on that. Edit: Nope it's Corellon.

Was I being a dick to do this.

Hell even a monster 4 levels higher then the party is doable, so this wasn't even necessarily a no win scenario, just an exceedingly difficult one, you did your job very well, the rogue was asking for a beating though.

Error with CB or Player? Help with math

Ok I'm seeing 11 from Str and half level, +2 from Enhancement and +1 from Heavy Blade Expertise and 3 from proficiency for a total of +17 to attacks, and then Damage is 6 from str, 2 from enhancement, 2 from Iron Armbands and +1 from weapon focus for +11. So yes it does look like they're using...

    January and Beyond!

Yah Con's not a secondary stat for Wizards...except for Staff of Defence Wizards, Tome of Binding or Evocation Mages. And as far as an Enchanter Mage, he would be putting his points into Charisma not Wisdom. Wisdom is for Illusionists. And at this point, assuming he did decide to put a 10 into...

    Essentials Swashbuckling Slayer

Or just change the name Sneak Attack to Precise Attack.

    January and Beyond!

I'm liking shades, they may not be the strongest race out there but they're very flavorful and I think people my underestimate the usefulness of guaranteed stealth training and the ability to at-will stealth, even if it does cost a standard action to do.

    Essentrials-only, what'd your party be?

Like many others my group will be starting an essentials only campaign in a few weeks and the party composition is a Half-Orc Slayer, Tiefling Mage, Halfling Feyblade, Half-Elf Druid and Eladrin Thief.

    OMG... you aren't *HUMAN*!!!

Here's the way I look at it, And this is coming from the one player in my group who has yet to actually play a human character, I'm human every day, when I play D&D I want to play something exciting.

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

Wrong, You were the first to mention sneak attack damage when you brought up losing a die of it in order to use a fullblade, and then went on to say that a Slayer makes up for that with their dex bonus. And as far as conditional vs Unconditional, it's extremely easy for a thief to get CA now...

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

Oh I agree that there will be times when you don't want to use it, however that's one of the thieves strengths imho, they have far more tactical awareness compared to the Slayer with their fire and forget stances. In fact the high damage stance for the Slayer gives a penalty to hit, where as the...

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

8+Dex mod does not trump 5d6+5, let alone 5d8+5. Assuming a huge focus on Dex, which is a secondary stat for Slayers, you're still getting only about +16 to the attack, and concidering the fact that Thieves get brutal sneak attack damage, the minimum extra a thief will get is +15. And the Thief...

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

And Thieves get +2 to damage with rogue weapons on top of being able to use their full dex bonus for damage at level 1, and at level 2 get the +1 to hit with rogue weapons. Their bonus finesse damage also increases as they level, to a total of +5 at epic, which is likely to be a bit more or...

    Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms

Do Hexblades really only have 1 at-will? Is the Fey Pact weapon a light blade or heavy blade? I'd also be interested in the new stats for the races.

    Essentials are melee heavy

Not really, most people concider it boring.

    Essentials are melee heavy

Actually concidering what I've heard from the people I talk D&D with, most people seem to prefer Melee characters over Ranged, There is very little risk in being able to attack enemies from 20 odd squares away.
