    What were your 2e houserules?

I wrote an extensive document years ago in collaboration with two other players. It is lost now but I recall the main points: Standard ability scores taken from D&D Short round duration taken from D&D Some spells, such as Fly, were deleted from game Many spells were moved to higher level, in...

    Greenwood's Forgotten Realms

There are a few sites giving little bits of Gygax's Greyhawk campaign and how it differs from the published version. Is any information out there about how Greenwood's Forgotten Realms actually was? It seems that TSR added pieces from other authors to fill the spaces, such as Niles' Moonshae...

Who Is Going to Pony Up for the Early OGL?

I have no insider information but publishers have not much of an option here. Anyone who don't purchase an early OGL license will be poorly positioned in the D&D market in the second semester and will skip Christmas sales.

    PC, Xbox 360 or PS3?

I recall Microsoft saying the industry average to be 3-5% but I don't believe them, I think it is much lower. Game consoles are to be compared to consumer electronics industries and I would guess their average is much closer to Sony's PS3, otherwise TV sets wouldn't be sold with several years...

HD-DVD is Dead (was: First Signs of Blu-Ray Dominance)

I really think this battle was already decided a few months back when Blockbuster decided to give much more support to Blu-Ray than HD-DVD. Still, I pretty much satisfied with normal DVD quality and, thus, I have no hurry to buy a new player or to replace my DVD collection.

    Marvel Digital Comics Review

How this work out? Am I right in understand they are selling a subscription of an online service that would allow me to read any Marvel comics published after a six months lag? This sounds like a terrific deal.

    what's you're favourite TSR/ WotC setting?

Interesting how the all the original versions fared much better than its sequels. I liked the original Forgotten Realms and Ravenloft boxes and the Known World Gazetteers series, although I don't care much for the updated editions. My single exception is Greyhawk, in which I like From the Ashes...

    Bioshock

I will wait till is released in my country -- which is usually pretty quick. Hopefully they will withdraw the ridiculous limiting re-installing license before that.

    Bioshock

This is a game I became less and less interested while it was hyped more and more. I am attracted by the cool graphic design but it seems, based in the reviews I read, I'll not be draw by the storyline as I don't really enjoy to play a game that forces you to do evil acts to keep going (although...

Does Having 3 Core Books Hurt The Game?

I agree entirely. I had a hard time convincing my dad to buy me AD&D back in 1983. He argued that three large books and a set of dice not only was expensive but, also, sounded too much for a game. He was more inclined to buy me basic and expert boxes, which he found more of his liking, exactly...

Does Having 3 Core Books Hurt The Game?

You certainly are not familiar with games such as Call of Cthulhu or HERO. Even Wizards has showed us that they can fit a complete d20 game in a single volume, as they have done with d20 Modern, Star Wars, and The Wheel of Time. The three books system is basically a lucrative tradition.

Were you a 3.x hater when it was announced and are glad you made the switch?

Other: I originally like it a lot but, after a while, the excessive care for details and the great number of exceptions, such as the feats, ruined the game to me. I stopped playing it even before 3.5.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

They are not great but they aren't bad either, especially the MM & the DMG, which I actually like. However, considering 3.x covers, they were a huge improvement. But then, a plain grey cover would also be a huge improvement.

Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk - got it!

Oh no, I hate retcons such as this. Kuntz might not liked the direction Robilar has taken in the late TSR years but it was not inconsistent. As much as I like most of 3.x Greyhawk products, I kind of disapointed with the editorial choices. It seems that they are doing, in the best Marvel comics...

Where can I find the description for Iggwilv?

She is briefly described in the first edition adventure Lost Caverns of Tsojocanth, by Gary Gygax. I'm not sure, but I think stats were given in Return of Eight, a rather weak adventure by Roger Moore released in the late 2nd edition era. Still, I prefer her to be an indirect presence in the...

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

Regarding the rules, is a question of taste. I prefer BRP to RQ, as it is lighter, but opinions may vary. Regarding the magic, Stormbringer 1-4 is very unbalanced but closer to the spirit of the books. Magic is pretty much balanced in Elric and Stormbringer 5 (same rules, different names, the...

    Pulp Cthulhu - what happened?!

Stormbringer is a great game. It is much simpler than RuneQuest (which is a great advantage), yet works very well to fantasy. Although it is BRP tailored to Moorcock's setting, it can be easily used with few adjustments in a generic fantasy setting. Magic is somewhat limited in the core book...

Who are the iconic characters from the settings?

Bargle was a minor character, I would certainly choose Captain Haldemar and the crew of the Princess Ark. Their years long column at Dragon Magazine was the reason why I care so much about this setting.

The Supplement Treadmill vs. The Alternatives

Chaosium don't follow roleplaying game standards in this regard. Their edition numbers are divorced from the rules. However, Chaosium follow the book publishing standard, as they call a new edition every time they change the book contents significantly, independent of any rules changes.
