Do we know if the Blade Pact is in the PHB?

That would require the Hex Blade making the cut for the core PHB, which does not appear to be the case. List here:

Boring. Contextualizing those mechanics is as important as the mechanics themselves to a lot of players.

The video on Species, Backgrounds and Feats confirms that the rules for creating custom backgrounds are in the DMG, not the PHB, and a new one can be made "with DM supervision." The premades are the defaults, of which there are 16.

We'll have to wait for the actual text, but my guess is you can only re-roll your own rolls, not those of the DM or another PC.

The article also mentions the newer versions of existing monsters have "greater opportunity for variability" and "many monsters now have expanded 'families' of connected monsters, building out ecosystems of linked and themed types". Not sure if that means more types of orcs with different CRs...

I haven't read Dragonbane, but I've heard that creatures actions are randomly determined round to round. Could anyone give any more insight into how that works, and do the creatures in the new Bestiary have actions listed to work with this mechanic?

Note: Six Flags Great America (Chicago-land) is not open year-round. It opens this year on April 20th through September 2nd. I can't imagine Giantland being a year-round theme park up in the near-Great White North.

That’s why I said “next melee attack”, not “next Attack action”. So you‘d get additional damage on the first attack of the Extra Attack feature. It would also apply to attacks taken as a reaction, which is a positive IMO. Note that the cantrips are already “pure extra damage” to a melee weapon...

They should make the cantrips take a bonus action, and have them apply to the caster’s next melee attack before the end of their next turn. Not having the attack as part of the casting would go a long way toward making them more balanced. GFB could even warrant a little damage boost with this...

As I read it, @tetrasodium's referring to your comment that Sneak Attack is basically equivalent to the Fighter's multi-attack, not that the cantrips can be combined with a multi-attack. BTW, if you look through the compiled Sage Advice doc, the ruling there is that cantrips do stack with Sneak...

I like this approach. Just wondering if you change the damage type to match the initial attack, or is it just a fluff change?

That’s exactly how I’ve reflavored it on multiple characters. Sure”piercing” may have more resistant creatures than “thunder”, but as you say, it makes more sense narratively (and thematically for these particular PCs)

Which is kinda funny, since Rebel Moon the movie is already pretty much Star Wars with the IP stripped off. So a new game would be a knock off of a knock off.
