    In two weeks (6/10)

I have long wanted to get a superhero game off the ground, but I don't think Vince and I can reach consensus on a superhero game he would be interested in playing and I would be interested in running. So, I think a superhero game is out. For what it is worth, I think the X-men movie has...

X Men III Review - SPOILERS

Yeah, this movie takes a drastic... DRASTIC detour from anything resembling comic book continuity. But I thought it was a really good story, nonetheless. Although I think there are several good comic book based plots that could still be made into an X-men movie with the members that are left...

    Memorial Day weekend?

I should be able to get there a bit after, assuming our photogs can be prodded into action.

    Memorial Day weekend?

I have to work Saturday until 4 p.m. or so. Are we playing?

    Movies

I have most of the James Bond books, up until the early 1990s. I actually enjoyed them more than the movies. Bond is grittier in print than the flashy superspy on the screen. And on a related note, my wife's maiden name is Bond. Her mom, who was a county commissioner out in Nevada, used Bond...

    Movies

Man, I would love to see Goldfinger again. I, of course, have the James Bond RPG and absolutely loved that game. Even today, it still holds up pretty well. And I have a ton of stuff for it, including the Goldfinger adventure (which is pretty different from the movie.)

    Starting over

Yeah, Saturday's game? I am going to a conference in Indy an don't expect to be back much before 3 p.m.? Are we going ahead early? Not playing? The responses were eaten by the space/time vortex...

Merry, merrys and happy happys to all

It's nearly 2 a.m., and I am off to bed. I am not a religious person but I wanted to wish you all, my good friends, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or the appropriate blessings of the faith of your choice. I hope everyone finds some peace and some joy under their tree today. Good night and see...

    Gaming company customer service

Charon Productions came through And on Christmas Eve, my new gaming satchel arrived. Although it is not as "neat" as the Ultimate Gaming Satchel, which had lots of bells and whistles (or pockets and cubby holes), it also appears to be substantially more sturdy. I am very happy with the new bag...

    Grim Tales & Inzeladun

Ya, D20 Modern does a lot to move toward a "class-less" class-based game. It is an interesting compromise. I've thought it would be really cool to take the D20 Modern framework and create a superhero game out of it. I've picked up a couple of takes on that, but none of them quite ring true for me.

    Gaming company customer service

Well, I received an e-mail response today that said they would be sending a replacement bag out tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    Gaming company customer service

Well, being a persistent sort, and after not hearing anything for three weeks now, I decided to give a call to the company (Charon Productions) in British Columbia. Their toll-free number is shared with another company, as their Web site warns, but the woman who answered the phone said that they...

    Interesting social mechanic

I think an appropriate social game mechanism could be beneficial in that it could help encourage good roleplaying. With an absence of attractive and effective in-game mechanics, you are actively discouraged from role-playing, in favor of making one dice roll and deciding the outcome. For...

    Interesting social mechanic

I am a huge fan of espionage games and dabble a bit in reading spy stuff (not as much as I would like though, that is for sure.) But spy games usually leave me cold, because they don't have this sort of social mechanic. In fact, this Love and War book and Dynasties and Demagogues are the only...

    Interesting social mechanic

Here are my thoughts, in general. They may seem disjointed, but really they are going somewhere. So, please bear with me a second. On a kids rpg group I am a member of, the point was made a while back that D&D (and most RPGs) devote dozens and hundreds of pages to combat and how to resolve...

    Gaming company customer service

Enthusiasm starting to flag a bit here... Well, two weeks have gone by since the first e-mail from Charon. I have e-mailed back twice now and haven't heard a response to either, nor anything further from the company. My question is, what is a reasonable amount of time to wait before I should be...

    Interesting social mechanic

On Sunday, I picked up Atlas Game's "Love and War" book from their Penumbra line at the Half-Priced Books store in Greenwood. $10 and there were like five more brand-new copies sitting there (along with a bunch of other new Penumbra books. Sad really.) The book is generally about how to run a...

    Mutants and Masterminds....

Got it. And the city book. And a couple of adventures. At least I have the first edition. I don't THINK there are any major changes between first and second edition.

    Thoughts on Nobles and wealth...

Or running houses of ill-repute or what have you. I was thinking that the wealth benefit would make more sense if you got that amount every time you leveled up. And then on an annual basis, you received (200sp + 200 sp per Cha bonus) x your level in noble. THAT would leave you sitting pretty.

    Thoughts on Nobles and wealth...

As I was preparing to add another level of Noble to Yuri, I really looked closely at the Wealth ability and frankly, I was pretty suprised at how little money Nobles actually get every year. This will probably only add to my legacy as the designated money grubber in the group, but I was trying...
