D&D 5E (2014) Any word on the gaming license for Next?

Apologies if this is something I should know, but have they described their likely licensing terms? I like 4e but dislike the license, so if it were more OGL-like, I'd be more interested.

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

This is exactly what I like about 4e -- it works as a game.

D&D 5E (2014) Should WotC launch a new Living Campaign with D&D Next?

Never played in one, so I have no idea. Probably they should, if it attracts gamers to the edition and hobby.

If there was a fire at your house and could only save one set of your games what would it be?

I'd grab my metal miniatures, since they're way more valuable than any boardgame. But if it had to be a game, probably rail baron, since it's out of print. If it had to be books, no idea. Those strike me as more easily replaced.

    Badges

Not sure how I'd know it was in my inventory, but the "active" box is checked. Yet, when I look at my profile, it shows no badges. Probably I didn't do something right.

    Badges

I got an "I defended the Walls" badge. I activate, but nothing discernable happens -- doesn't show up in my profile.

D&D 5E (2014) Even if you like D&D Next, are you buying it, and how soon?

I'm totally uncertain of whether I'll ever buy it at this point. But your poll doesn't give me a place to say that. I can't give a definite "I'll buy after ___" answer or a definite "I'm not going to buy it". Depends on the final product.

    D&D 4E Whose staying with 4e?

This is true, but I'm not sure it would drive me to 5e. It might just make me drop D&D, either in favor of simpler (to DM) RPGs, or in favor of playing other games. I'm undecided between continuing with 4e, going to 5e, or trying something else. So long as adequate tools exist for DMing 4e...

Review - Adventurer's Guide to Cthonia

The link seems broken, alas. However, with some digging I found it here: http://www.neuroglyphgames.com/review-adventurers-guide-to-cthonia-by-alea-publishing

How do I turn off the endless "Are you sure" dialogs?

I hit it again last night -- had just clicked on a thread to read it, and got it when navigating away. Was nowhere near the quick-reply box, but will see if I can grab a screenshot the next time it happens. Merely having the focus should not trigger such a confirmation box, however -- it should...

    Interesting campaign settings?

I'm playing a multi-setting campaign, and (after 10 or so levels), we are getting ready to move on to a new location. Story-wise, I have some flexibility there, and am curious if anyone has recommendations? Restrictions: For story-related reasons, it shouldn't be Eberron, and I don't want to do...

    Good online tools for campaigns?

I'm looking for a good online tool for organizing campaign notes, maps, etc. I want it to be online so that my players can access it (and so I'm not tied down to a particular computer). I would like for it to support authorizing access, so that I can put thing up ahead of time but only reveal...

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

Just a personal anecdote (again), but we bought the redbox when starting out. It wasn't all that good, and while I did buy a bunch more books, I bought most of them used -- in part to guard against risks of disappointment, and in part because there is a huge price disparity on D&D books more...

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

Our core group started from scratch about 2.5 years ago, although we've dragged several others in since. Not saying it's common (no idea), but I do think new people start all the time.

Roleplaying since the 80s and I'm really tired!

I'm at the other end of the spectrum (only played a few years, all 4e), but that quote rings very true to me.

How do I turn off the endless "Are you sure" dialogs?

Sample image: I'm running Firefox at the moment, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it in Chrome as well. It may be that I've clicked in the reply box (not intentionally), but I hit this often. There is definitely no actual data to be worried about in these cases.

How do I turn off the endless "Are you sure" dialogs?

I go in and read a thread, I try to navigate somewhere else and I get this "Are you sure" dialog that forces me to confirm. It gets very irritating after a while. Is there any way to turn it off? What the heck is its purpose?

    Critical Hit Podcast

Not sure if this is old news (probably) but there is a really fun D&D adventure podcast out there called Critical Hit: http://majorspoilers.com/category/critical-hit/ They're playing 4e, although I'd think non-4e players might still enjoy it. It will make the most sense if you start at the...

D&D 4E Dragon 421 is up! Level-by-level Multiclassing for 4e; Dragonlance Items; Draconian!

The browser renders it and browser plugins can do various things to improve the experience, like bump up the font size. In addition, they could have a table of contents that links to articles separately, instead of making me download the whole crappy pdf to read one article. PDFs privilege page...
