Pathfinder 1E Crashed ship, need expert advice to make thi9s more enjoyable!

so.. is the ship really haunted, is it infested with a natural threat, or has it been taken over by villains? if it's haunted... how? zombies of the drowned crew? ghosts of the slaves it was carrying (which could lead to some nice non-combat encounters to find out what task was left...

Attacking a walled structure - any experience?

you may want to give your mercs the improved bull rush feat. even low level mercs have a decent chance of pushing a high level opponents. Oh how I laughed when the rogue (he was 12th lvl) in the party I DM'ed was quite confident against 3 lvl 3 guards, who couldn't hit him while climbing...

Attacking a walled structure - any experience?

are the necromancers high enough for magic jar? PCs: eew! the evil necromancers are keeping kids with locked collars tied on the wall! PCs: hmm.. weird.. one of those kids stopped cowering, and is looking at us. kids possessed with magic jar: *casts fireball* as an added bonus, you can use a...

Divinations: How can you share um?

how about developing a spell which allows a willing target to see through your eyes? Something like this: Share Sight (divination 2) casting time: 1 standard action duration: 1 min/lvl saving throw: yes spell resistance: no You allow a willing ally to see the world through your eyes. For the...

Looking for advice on a caster build

hmm... first thing that comes to mind for gravity spells are levitate, reverse gravity, water walk. for time, there are more options. hold spells, expeditious retreat, haste... and not to forget: many divination spells have a time component. True strike let's you see a moment into the future for...

Tips for Switching from an Experienced to Inexperienced Group as a GM

ease them into it. Keep encounters simple at first and slowly increase complexity. Something like first encounter: simple: these monsters have just basic damaging melee attacks. second combat.. these monsters might have bows, introducing ranged combat. 3rd combat, some mobs may lay down...

New Druid in town, needs some assistance

for faster wild shaping, there's the wonderful feat "swift wildshape" which let's you wildshape as a swift action. Last time I played a druid he was heavily based on wildshaping and grappling, so I took "Improved Grapple", which worked pretty good. I loved my wild armour (expensive... yes... but...

D&D 3.x [Scarred Lands] 3.5 Conversion/Errata for Relics & Rituals, Lost Lore, and Creature Collection II: Dark Menagerie?

scarred lands was never updated to 3.5, although I think there was a 4e creature collection (pdf by fiery dragon, IIRC). That said... I've run scarred lands in 3, 3.5 and 4e (without the 4e CC) and it's not much of a problem. Some Prestige classes may need a little reworking, and the same goes...

    merfolk druid spells and tactics

Entangle works just fine under water, and can be a real threat to divers. It's dismissible, so you can give stuck divers a stern talk about how they should leave this place alone before you let them go (or leave them to suffocate). Warp wood pretty much ruins boats, which should help drive off...

Pathfinder 1E looking for ideas: Buddy cops search for lost pet.

just an idea... you could have the pet mastermind the abduction him/her/itself, to get away from its abusive or alignment incompatible master. Would work well with things like blink dogs. Blink dogs could also work well in a party of investigators, usually impersonating a normal (tracking) dog.

D&D 5E (2014) What Wizards can do to make D&D Next successful.

The OGL really made third edition into a big success, the lack of a decent OGL was a MAJOR step back. Ofcourse, I define succesful as 'lots of people play it, and like playing it'. success is different things for different people.

Pathfinder 1E Marriage Issue (Aka Wife from Cheliax)

also.. an NPC such as this may change alignment, depending on your actions and your DM. she may be lawful evil now, but could become lawful neutral.

    Pathfinder 1E Instrument Weapons

a didgeridoo can function just fine as a staff. bows can be used as stringed instruments. swords could have a whistle or flute built in the hilt. And then there's several variants on the sword-stick (a sword in a cane). I'm sure there are more possibilities.

Pathfinder 1E Marriage Issue (Aka Wife from Cheliax)

first check the rules of succession in your country. Can it have a queen as a ruler, or are only kings allowed? Is regency hereditary? If so... is it usual or known for adopted children to become king? (the romans did this). If your queen can't become a ruler, you'll be safer from...

having int or dex count for AC was one thing 4e really did right.

    Alignment: Chosen or awarded?

the player chooses his alignment. I usually (but not always) point out if an action is totally against their alignment. I've only once punished a character for breaking their alignment, which resulted in a slight loss of power for 1 day (Paladins, at least the lawful good kind, should not eat...

Do druids and rangers make the wilderness too freindly?

I partially disagree, there can still be credible threats to parties over lvl 3. This mainly happens when the party ventures into their territory. A river they are crossing may have a large population of hippopotami (they may look cute from a distance... but no other wild animal has more human...

    Wizards and healing spells

I think there was also one of the symbul's spells that healed. dont have my books here, but it was something like a 5th lvl spell that would convert uncast spells to healing, 1d6 per spell level.

    AD&D 1E Creative Uses for 1e Spells

tenser's floating disc: because you can ride it. also comes in handy when you need a boat. levitate: you use this on your opponent. lift your unhappy opponent to 100ft, and cancel your levitate. leomund's tiny hut: translucent from the inside, opaque from the outside means full concealment 1e...
