Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

I see it as a tool, not anything that replaces interactions. I don't see it replacing any puzzle pieces because it will still always be my story. On the other hand if it can help me fill in details about Orlack the city guard that is probably not going to be important? That could be helpful...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

If this is about his claims to how he uses technology, it's not even possible he is using Chat GPT to help fill in ideas for his campaign or some tool to create art? There are no tools in existence that will "talk" for you if you give them lines? Even if money is not an obstacle? :rolleyes...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

At one point I was running or helping to run two different game days in a major metro area. Over the course of a few months I played with at least 30 people because I both DMed and played. I have no idea what his situation is, if he's exaggerating, if he's just making up a number. But it is...

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

I guess that's just where I draw the line between magic and supernatural. If ghosts go away then giants collapse, giant insects die quickly and so on. Want to defeat a tarrasque? Just cast antimagic zone and watch it crumble as whatever part of it's body is affected by the antimagic zone and...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

Yes, in large part because it uses chips not available to the developers. But there are also questions about how the Chinese government is using it ... which is a whole separate topic that doesn't really have anything to do with D&D.

I get subscriptions for things I find useful and/or informative. I pay for DDB because it makes my life as DM (and player for that matter) much, much easier. Even with that subscription fee, D&D is still a cheap hobby and the time I save by using the tool is worth the money to me. Same reason...

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

It was being discussed as part of dispel magic and antimagic zones. As far as changes to tiny hut? As I stated above I don't allow any attacks from inside the hut and it doesn't have an impervious floor. Rope trick? Can't remember the last time I saw it used and I don't think allowing a good...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

A while back I wanted to borrow the idea of head crabs from the Half-Life games. If you don't know what they are, they're basically small alien parasite that effectively eats people's brains and turns them into zombies. Except my head crabs were created by a follower of Lollth so I wanted...

D&D General Can a Wish spell move a moon to cause an eclipse?

I would say no. If you can start altering the orbit of a moon then the power level of a wish is dramatically increased from the current version. You are changing something that affects the entire world. As always it's up to the DM but if an NPC can do it, so can a PC as far as I'm concerned...

You mean like John Henry being replaced by the steam-powered rock drill? The roughly 30% of all people worked on the farm a century ago versus the 2% today? All those people who used to balance the books by hand that have been replaced by spreadsheets and other computer software? Technology...

Never underestimate the "buzzword of the moment" impact on what managers talk about whether or not it actually means anything.

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

If we base it on what is normal for a fantasy world then nothing is supernatural, nothing is magic in a world where magic exists so the words would be meaningless. The words aren't meaningless because they aren't used for our fictional people in our fictional world, they're used for people...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

Since another "AI is evil" thread is soon to begin, guess it's time to get my thoughts in before the thread is shut down. :cautious: AI is a tool. Just like fire, the water wheel, the internal combustion engine, spreadsheets. Technology changes the way we live and work. It will continue to...

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

With apologies to Survivor and Rocky fans ... It's the eye of the tiger, it's the spell of the night Dispellin' all the tiny huts of his rivals And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night And he's watching us all with the spell of the tiger

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

Outside of the 3E definition, I doubt there's been clear distinction between mundane, supernatural and magical. Even then I never agreed 100% with their definition. For me? Mundane can exist in the real world, although it may be extreme or (in 3E terms) extraordinary but still theoretically...

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

I made my house rule because I want to allow it to be protection but not an pillbox military shelter impervious to all attacks. That doesn't mean it's always a good idea to use it.

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

I'm just pointing out that dispel magic is not the only thing that can be done if the PCs use tiny hut. Again, imagine if your group was on the other side of this scenario. You don't happen to have dispel magic and a dangerous enemy is at your doorstep. You and your allies have up to 8 hours...
