Different Games for the Referee and Players

This would take experienced players. Because I have to look up everything for the inexperienced ones, and there's no way I'm doing that through two or more rule books. Yeah, we get that a lot 🤓

    D&D 5E (2014) "Picto" Runes

Claire Obscur? Back in Final Fantasy 6 these were called Espers. The requirements for attribute boosts were a character level up, and the other abilities improved after a number of fights related to the power of the ability. The best ones were earned after about 100 fights.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Six pack of Obsidian Stout. Never let your character drink alone. It adds to immersion. So far? How long was it supposed to last?

Daggerheart Reveals Ranger Class Preview (Exclusive)

If you're referring to the promo image, a Focus seems to be a "target" that is also a "creature." Which, apparently, identifies as they/them. So I guess one could punch his ally on the shoulder, and on a success, always know what direction it is they are in.

Are there any submarine based RPGs?

Try Alien RPG by Free League. Spacesuit = diving suit, spaceship = submarine.

AI is going to hack us.

Aw! I was hoping for something short after "TLDR." No, that's just the universe telling you not to order fast food. Did Rolling Stone throw in the "turn off her phone . . . surveillance concerns" bit as if cellphones aren't personal tracking devices? I expected better, RS.

Daggerheart Reveals Ranger Class Preview (Exclusive)

So, a Focus is an enemy? Or can it be something other than an enemy, hence the terminology? Wouldn't more than one be "foci" then? And if I haven't exceeded my question limit . . . nevermind. This answers my Duality question: https://daggerheart.fandom.com/wiki/Duality_Dice

Honest Trailers | Monty Python and the Holy Grail

This popped up in my feed, too. I assumed it was years and years old, though.

Where’s The Beastmaster Roleplaying Game? Part 2

There's a Beastmaster III? I guess I need to be watching more late night TBS. Also, I wouldn't call Dragonbane a d20 game.

D&D 5E (2024) What upcoming WotC D&D product are you excited about?

I'm looking forward to their new directors of product. Unless it's an AI.

The Oblivion Remaster Is Releasing Today. This Is Not A Drill.

Guess I'll swing by Nexus Mods, and probably throw way more in the cart than I intended to . . .

The Oblivion Remaster Is Releasing Today. This Is Not A Drill.

Erm, Adept difficulty means easy bandits. One higher level difficulty means I get curb stomped each time. Is that how it's supposed to be?

How can the tabletop gaming industry survive without China?

This. Maybe people will stop cutting down trees if it costs more.

    D&D 5E (2024) I attack the darkness!

I think you're referring to Theater of the Blind. ... I'll see myself out. With disadvantage.

    D&D 5E (2024) I attack the darkness!

Why would one choose to enter an area of magical darkness? Especially when there's probably an enemy in there?

Go to your previous save and apologize to the Nine for skipping over their beautiful terrain and random encounters?

Where’s The Beastmaster Roleplaying Game? Part 1

I'll recommend Krull as the subject for the next article. Also, the beast master would make a terrible D&D character - he didn't know how to use armor.

D&D General Hard Moves (in D&D)

As I understand them, a soft move is a mixed success for a PC, because the PC didn't roll high enough. A hard move is what happens when a PC rolls too low, and it's unfortunate. It looks to me like you're wanting to buy bad outcomes when the PCs roll successes, which seems to be something...
