The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

I think the intent of this thread is that instead of saying what you were going to say, you say something different that doesn't cause any arguments etc. Stating that you'd like to say something but won't because you know it'll be called racist is just weasel word dog whistling, and all it does...

    Structuring a Quest Based Sandbox

Following on from my recommendation for Beyond the Wall and the scenario and threat packs, I just discovered they realeased a new one on pdf that contains all the other scenario and threat packs, with some new ones too, and it's available for PWYW on drivethru: Beyond the Wall - Dangers Near and...

    Structuring a Quest Based Sandbox

I'm going to second Beyond the Wall, especially the several scenario packs and threat packs. Threat fronts are similar to what was described above - some group that has a plan, you can try to thwart them early on, but if you leave it too late and do nothing to investigate or hinder them, they'll...

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Shares Theros Table of Contents

A class based on fighting, a glory hound, that only cares for his own strength at arms and victories doesn't sound anything like a paladin to me, more a fighter or barbarian.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hypothetical 50th Anniversary Core Rulebooks

Why would they have to announce a new version 2 years in advance? There's absolutely nothign to stop them suddenly announcing a new version and putting it out for immediate sale, other than that it would probably get leaked.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Shares Theros Table of Contents

Dude, Said published Orientalism in 1978. The notion has been around a lot longer than you seem to think.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Shares Theros Table of Contents

I have no interest in the magic settings, little interest in eberron, planescape, dark Sun, spelljammer and the like, started with d&d back in the early 80s, think curse of strahd was overrated, don't tend to buy adventure path books, and don't have even the slightest interest in a psionics...

What will it take for you to go back to F2F gaming?

Large kidney stones don't pass. You have to have a laser pushed up your urethra which blasts them, then have a stent fitted through your urethra into your kidney for the smaller bits to pass. The stent also causes bleeding whenever you do anything more than frown, makes you feel like you need to...

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

Yeah. It reminded me of a playtest for Earthdawn 2, a decade or two ago (so I think the NDA time sensitive delay has safely passed now); the designers of that version (LRG) wanted a new character class that was a mix of Thief, one of the magic-using classes, and alos had some talents from one of...

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

Gen X here, as are most of my group, but I know I'm not the only one who finds both a bit meh. They might be beloved by you and your group, but that's by no means indicative of that level of fandom in everyone.

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

I dunno about the epic book. As someone posted earlier, 15-20 is pretty epic already, and hardly ever used. While I'm sure some people would love it, I know our group probably wouldn't touch it (and we're very long time in the main - a couple of young 'uns but the majority of us have been...

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

I doubt they'll do a Ravenloft book; CoS covers that ground pretty well.

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

My guess would be Anniversary edition, which would either be a version of OD&D with historical notes, commentary, etc, and essays from people involved, or v 5.5.

What will it take for you to go back to F2F gaming?

Our main gaming place is a basement, which tends to get crowded and hot and humid with the other gamers in there too. Not going to be going back there until there are no more cases being recorded here, and then will still give it another few weeks.

D&D 5E (2014) Musings on the likelihood of future products

I can't see multiple Planes / Dark Sun books as outlined above. I'd think maybe one Planes splatbook (with planes-related subclasses) and guide to the planes, Sigil, and bestiary etc as an all in one, and an adventure path. Maybe an adventure path. Ditto for Dark Sun, a splatbook including...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Last Edition of D&D?

I'm sure that when every person in the world has 17 copies of the PHB, that sales will start to drop a little, yes. :D

D&D General A Taxonomy of D&D and other FRPG Settings

Harn is definitely not A (Tieflings, dragonborn etc aren't a presence there at all). I'd say either B (low magic medieval as the theme) or more likely, D (especially if you include Talislnta and EPT in that category), a fully realised art /boutique world with a specific mythology present.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Oh, don't worry, my university lecture on the subject goes on for about 45 minutes, though that does include a bit on the Captain Swing riots too. :D

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

@Mistwell I'll give you the benefit of the doubt once, then I'm done with you. I'm not interested in any whataboutist sealioning, thanks. What we know: She used a purposefully made email to email Mearls about Zak. She says that she didn't use that email address to email anyone else. That...
