Looking for a Boston Area Game

Hey guys! I'm still working on getting together the contact info because we haven't changed our phones over to local numbers yet. As soon as I do I'm going to send the official "we've moved!" e-mail. NCSUCodeMonkey

Why do I alwaus get one player......

See, that's perfectly fine in my book. You're willing to wait and find the right group of players. It's when the player isn't willing to budge on his/her concept and the DM wants to force restrictions that nobody's interested that I see the problems crop up. I imagine that if a player came to...

Why do I alwaus get one player......

I get where you're coming from, but taking that stance is almost as bad as the player type that started this thread :). The idea that this is the "GM's game" and the "GM's setting" rubs me the wrong way. With most of the groups that I've been in, the DM and player can work out some sort of happy...

    FLGS in Boston?

Sweet! With directions and everything! And it looks like Pandemonium isn't too far from where I work. Hmmm...now to earn enough money to actually buy something :D Thanks everyone! NCSUCodeMonkey

Why do I alwaus get one player......

Yeah, I've seen it happen before. We had a campaign once where the entire northern end of the setting had been corrupted/overtaken by an undead "all devourer" worm that spewed undead. The entire party knew that the entire point of the campaign was to wade through the masses of undead and destroy...

Looking for additional 1 or 2 players in the Stoughton/Canton MA area

I'm Game Elodan, I'd be more than willing to give it a shot. Google Maps indicates that it'd be about a 30 minute drive, which is nothing where I come from :). If the commute turns out to be too hideous, I may back out, but it looks like I could do the majority of the driving on the interstate...

    FLGS in Boston?

Well, my wife and I are still unpacking boxes, but the move to Boston is complete and I'm wondering: where do the gamers go in Beantown? We're completely new here, and besides an old aquaintence from high school and the folks in my wife's graduate department, we don't really know anyone. Are...

Looking for a Boston Area Game

I just moved into the Boston area from North Carolina and I'm looking for a game of pretty much any description. I've been playing mostly d20, D&D 3.5 recently, but I'd be more than happy to play another system. It'd be great for me to find a game accessible by the T, but I'd be willing to drive...

    Needing enemy help

Depending on how you're working the plot, perhaps the prophet still has followers that are loyal to him? They could be zealots, assasians, etc. They could also have abilities in tune with the prophets message, perhaps a corrupting touch or something else. NCSUCodeMonkey

Your Gimmicks: Hard at Work (w/Pics!)

About two months ago, I put out a general call for gimmick ideas in this thread. I used a ton of those ideas to produce and run an adventure. I always see folks asking for help with plots and whatnot, but rarely do I get the pleasure of seeing the result of everyone's brainstorming. So, here's a...

When did gnomes fall from grace?

I dunno, my fiancee played her gnomish wizard in a David the Gnome style, even bringing the books to the table to show how she pictured her character. Maybe the mechanics didn't support it in the best possible fashion, but she seemed happy with it. I guess it helps sometimes to not know the...

    Dark Sun + Dune + Tattooine + Darwin's World

The Weapons Master from Black Company seems to fit the "battle" aspects of the Bene Geserit: fast movement, flurry of blows, disciplined mind, etc. and all with weapons instead of just unarmed. NCSUCodeMonkey

    Dark Sun + Dune + Tattooine + Darwin's World

If you went with something like this, where the planet is a nexus of the dark side (I think there's even a reference in one of the Zahn books to Dagobah being Yoda's home because the cave was a dark side nexus...?), then the fremen could be force "wilders" who unwittingly use the dark side of...

    Humbling defeats

My group has was almost killed by zombie farm animals: zombie cows, pigs and a swarm of zombie chickens. It was pretty sad. :\ NCSUCodeMonkey

    Meddling Kids (Introductary RPG)

I'm looking forward to Meddling Heroes now, if it ever comes out. Maybe it could replace my clunky Grimm/Four Color to Fantasy mechanics with this system for my Underoo Avengers super hero kids game. NCSUCodeMonkey

Preferred weapon -- are feats specific enough?

Yeah, I'll throw in my support on the "not a problem side." In fact, the power gamer types of my group almost always focus in on a single weapon if they are fighters. Crank their bonuses to hit and damage on a single weapon as much as possible (feats, PrC abilities, enhancements, begging for...

So what's the best character sheet out there?

I've always been a fan of Mad Irishman's sheets: http://www.unc.edu/~murphy/mad_irishman/ Huh, I didn't realize he went to UNC...maybe I should change sheets ;) NCSUCodeMonkey

Is Your Setting Pretty Much Earth?

In the campaign that I just finished playing in the party had to go to the moon to recover an artifact. It turned out that the moon was just a really cold place that you could fly to (on giant bats!). It sounds strange, I guess, and maybe too sci-fi the way that I'm presenting it, but it was...

Any other hobbies cause you to lose players?

I had one player that I lost for every NFL season (we played on Sunday). We only had him at the table like 3-4 months out of the year. NCSUCodeMonkey
