Hook for Outside Help to Thieves' Guild?

I think the idea of having someone be hired to steal from the family of the guildmaster, (assuming without the permission of the guildmaster) or otherwise work around the head of the guild would make it hard to justify their entry into the guild later, though.

    Base Class i'm building

If the character is jumping, you use the character's speed for determining bonus. Though you could do a Yoshi thing, make the mount jump with that speed bonus, then jump off the mount using the character's jump check.

Hook for Outside Help to Thieves' Guild?

I see it's already been suggested, so I will instead second the suggestion of the Party being hired because the current guild is already known, so they need an outsider. Or, there's suspicion of some sort of traitor within the guild, blackmail, coercion, something like that, so they need...

    Halflings or Hobbits?

I like halfling because hobbit seems more specific to the homey, bucolic short-folk of the Lord of the Rings. Whereas halfling is more generic, which means I can bend and twist them into any sort of cultural shape I want, as long as I just keep them pretty short.

    Base Class i'm building

Also, why is it non-good only? I don't see anything that specifically screams that it's evil, or even antithetical to the ideals of good. Stabbing someone when they're not at their most prepared isn't exactly nice, but I wouldn't say you can't do it and still be good.

    Cloak And Dagger Quests

I don't know if you could base a major story around it, but I've always been fond of the idea of the evil vizier/advisor/minster who is definitely evil, but also actually loyal to the (good(ish)) king. He's your stereotypical bad guy, but also wants to protect the king and country, he just does...

    Innocent encounters.

    19. A merchant is giving back more change than he was given. 20. Someone sees a villager attempting to follow another one. 21. A travelling minstrel is evasive as to where he was last seen. 22. A farmer or other peasant class person has an item of jewelry or clothing far above what their station...

Creative Exercise: The Sovereign Dominion of Eyros

Fun times, back in the day. Shame it's probably a non-starter now, with a different system out, and apparently the guy in charge actually works for WoTC now? Unless he can make it happen, that'd be kinda boss.

Old game setting people were working on, dinos and Romans Empire

Does anyone remember an old worldbuilding attempt people were working on what would have been a few years ago now? It was something like the Roman Empire, only run by... hobgoblins, I want to say? Who rode dinosaurs, and worshipped a giant monster T-rex, and kept humans as slaves. Does this...

    Extra Range

I'm just wondering if there's anything short of upgrading to a Greatbow that would give a longbowman (Ranger Hunter) some extra range beyond the 20/40 you start with. Though that's in no way something to sneer at, I think it'd be neat to get even more insane amounts of range.

    Celestial Armor

It seems that a lot of people assume that it's already Mithral, but there's technically no proof it actually is. You could make Celestial Mithral Armor (or rather, Celestial Elven Chain) for extra dexterity and lower armor check/asf... Likewise, you could make it out of a breastplate, or...

    The Ultimate System

One thing I think we'd see is a system that uses the same skill mechanics for combat and non-combat events. Also, it'd be nice to see a way of handling sure kills that also allows for heroic battles. The two guys swinging away at each other with broadswords for hours is a standard fantasy...

D&D 3.x [3.5e Gestalt] Overcoming Arcane Spell Failure?

Mithral would be in either the DMG or PHB, it's "normal" stuff. Blended Quartz is, I think, in the Arms & Equipment Guide. There's other ways to get AC with pure magical items too, Bracers of Armor, Amulet of Natural Armor, for instance. Of course, as a 20th level spell caster, you've got...

D&D 3.x [3.5e Gestalt] Overcoming Arcane Spell Failure?

Depending on what armor you can get, there's Mithril, which reduces ASF by 10%, or Blended Quartz, which reduces ASF by 20% A Blended Quartz Chain shirt would give you +4 AC with no spell failure chance. Or if you can make it magical, Blended Quartz Chainmail with the Twilight enhancement...

    Low level caster tricks

I had fun with using Web+fire to set the web on fire, damaging everyone trapped in it. With energy substitution, you might be able to argue for the same trick, that the web is somehow electrically conductive.

Ways to gain extra movement speed?

There's Aspect of the Peregrine Falcon if you're a hunter from Essentials that gives +2 speed. But that's only when you have it "on."

    Boxers?

A few levels of monk and rogue + fighter for feats sounds handy (monk 4/rogue 3 gives magic fists, + 2d6 sneak attack, great if they're twins who fight together + fighter for higher BAB, and hd plus all the feats) would fit, depending on the level they're facing. There's also a handful of...

    Tactical Encounter Problems

I would personally be wary about making specific enemy builds to break up their formations, or whatever. That seems like it runs the risk of the players thinking they were just outclassed, which would render any of their tactical plans pointless.
