Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

Personally, I thought the article was well-written informal writing, something you might see in a newspaper column but with a D&D twist. As for the language barrier, that's always going to be an issue. I'm Canadian, and while we share a lot of terms with the US, some are quite different. I've...

So, what do you think of Gleemax?

I'm a little iffy on the design... it doesn't scale well to my resolution, and the text seems kind of scrunched in because of it, except in the blogs themselves. There, of course, are lots of technical errors but it's an alpha test so that's to be expected. Ease-of-use just isn't there yet...

ToWotC: Make staff blogs easier to find on Gleemax!

That just lists the forum blogs, not the Gleemax blogs. Sure, you can find links there to the individual blogs of some who've transferred over, but it doesn't show when Gleemax blogs are updated.

    D&D 4E Paizo and 4e - Vive le Revolution!

The fanbase was just as split over 3e at this point prior to release. I remember it quite well as I first started reading ENWorld to get away from the negativity that was filling the net.

One (Awesome) Gamer's Perspective: My Hobby is Gaming

I think you've hit the nail on the head for why I've been so confused by the negative reaction. (I expected it, since I was around for the 3rd edition announcement, just didn't understand it.) I am a gamer. D&D is just one of many game systems that I play. Having a new edition wouldn't be any...

Who Do You Want Illustrating 4th Ed.?

Totally agreed. I've hated the art style since day one. I remember the very first look at the PHB, I told my group, (this was before FRCS came out), "This might be what armour in Greyhawk looks like, but not the Realms." Really, I don't know artists well enough to answer the original question...

    Conversions

Yeah. You could still have the same story, but you'd have to reimagine the encounters, which is where the difficulty would come in. Of course, I've only ever used one prescripted adventure. Most seem too scripted for my rather unpredictable players.

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I'd have to say 20-30. Probably opening it up to 15+, trying to get new gamers involved. Baldur's Gate. Before that I only played Star Wars D6.

    Find the Anime Challenge

Anybody who's read a Flash (or related) comic would think differently, I think. For example, the cover of Impulse #81:

Keep your filthy points of light away from me!

All the information so far indicates exactly the opposite. You'll only need the PHB, DMG, and MM to play. Which is the same as now.

    D&D 4E Paizo and 4e - Vive le Revolution!

Ok, yeah, that's definitely not the one I was thinking of.

    D&D 4E Paizo and 4e - Vive le Revolution!

As Dr. Awkward mentioned, Ultima Online. There's also EVE Online, where you can make a success of yourself entirely through trading or mining or manufacturing. Before 2005, Star Wars Galaxies too. I spent the majority of my time in that game performing in cantinas and crafting droids. I've...

The same thing can be said about MMOs.

Future Forgotten Realms Novels: Canon or Not?

Yes. It's part of what separates Forgotten Realms from other settings in my opinion.

Stephen Schubert's Latest Post-- anybody buy it?

Most of the information that made it onto this site with 3rd edition came from Dragon magazine. Some didn't, but I'm pretty sure I remember the most of it being from Dragon. So, you were paying for it then too, or you were reading it here after the fact... which you'll probably be able to do...

    D&D 4E An Optimistic View of 4E

I agree on every point but 6. (I don't disagree with 6 either... it just doesn't matter to me.) Very well put. :)

    AD&D 2E Which 2e campaign setting should make a comeback in 4e?

I voted Planescape, but I'd also like to see Spelljammer and Birthright.

[FR] Everyone take a deep breath...

So, you're saying it wasn't Forgotten Realms if you're playing a game set in the age of Netheril? Magic worked differently back then, there were different gods (some the same), different kingdoms, etc. IMO, it sounds just like what they're doing now, though now it's in the future rather than...

    Design and Development: Cosmology

I really like that idea. Helps me accept the changes a little easier.
