    D&D 5E (2024) Best skill monky build?

It might also depend on the skills you actually care about. For example Battlemaster can be good at some skills but not all. I think soulknife wins out. 4 starting skills and 2x expertise. An extra language as well (languages can matter for charisma skills). At level 6 get 2 more...

    D&D 5E (2024) Illusion Magic in 2024

I think and still think he was saying precisely what you say he wasn’t.

D&D 5E (2024) How balanced would be this feat?

So a level 8 Battlemaster fighter can have a maul, a shield, dueling fighting style for +2 damage, GWM, sentinel and this for max str. That looks quite a bit better than the typical great weapon fighter. Is that the intent? For one handed weapons I don’t see any major issues, though some...

I mean your damage is trash if you’re not attacking with advantage or making 2x attacks. The only way to do that without a vex weapon on a rogue is steady aim and steady aim kills mobility.

Also, I just noticed Thrown Weapon Fighting Style would work with Psychic Blades :) To make the comparison easier I might match the fighter dip for that. :) I think in actual play I'd just stay Rogue, i like some of the higher level features more than a bit of extra damage. But the damage is...

He doesn't need to. He can take mage slayer instead. In fact I think i'd rather have that than GWM on a rogue at that stage anyways. +4 or so damage vs a once per short rest immunity to a nasty effect. I assumed for a GWM archer that Sharpshooter was more for the can fire into melee and...

And the lower level you make this the less of the feats the assassin rogue can have. 91% vs a minimum of essentially 96.5% chance to land sneak attack, which goes up even higher anytime i'm using both attacks, and nearly reaches 99.9% anytime I start a turn with advantage and can make both...

The issue is that you cannot get sharpshooter, max cha/int/wis for true struke and GWM till level 13 at the earliest (13 instead of 12 due to the single level fighter dip). Which of those things are you giving up before that? Dex based Rogues can because Sharpshooter pulls double duty raising...

To put Soul Knife Homing Strikes in Perspective. For a single attack that you have advantage, it means you go from 84% advantage chance to hit to a 96.5% chance to hit and a 12.5% chance of expending the dice. *Note these numbers are for the d10 version. For non-advantage attacks it would...

I still don't think you are making up the damage or accuracy. Even with archery, great weapon master, longbow (or heavy crossbow since it's available on the fighter dip as well).

Anyways, here's how I envision the soul knife playing. Turn 1. You use steady aim so you get advantage to land sneak attack on an enemy (allies and enemies likely not yet engaged). At level 9 you have homing strikes just in case you miss. Low chance of mattering but adds a good bit of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Illusion Magic in 2024

Sure you can. Illusions exist. If they didn't you wouldn't see them. But thanks for confirming there's not actually a rule in the books preventing the attacking of illusions - just some sophistry to bend the language to the results you want. The ground doesn't have an AC or Hp either. You...

    D&D 5E (2014) Slightly Tankier Monk?

I'm late to the party but the have patient defense for that. Or dodge action and Flurry of Blows if you have abilities that key off Flurry. Also, Mercy Monk healing when using Flurry of Blows adds alot of mid combat tankiness as well.

Warlock I think is a bit better than I first gave credit for. He's harder to compare, but as long as you can regularly get an average of 3 enemies in fireball/synaptic for all your slots then his damage should be good. He gets to push enemies around very well. Synaptic Static doubles as some...

The price of streaming vs out right owning

My dilemma. I prefer the convenience of digital. I prefer the convenience of an easy to use platform across multiple devices. I don’t prefer that most digital content is tied to a particular platform that can shut down at any time, even if otherwise you own it in every other respect. That said...

Ah. I see how that could happen. I don't really fully agree here on the mobility part, because the point previously was that you can't get heavy crossbow push mastery and mobility on the Paladin 2 / Rogue. It's either one or the other. When you claimed you could by dipping Paladin, that's...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fireball/Lightning Bolt vs Chromatic Orb?

I've been there before too on the number of bounces! Rerolling damage dice isn't completely pointless given how many damage dice the spell rolls. There's lots of 1's and 2's to be converted to an average of 4.5. I mean you could easily be rolling 8*4 or more damage die with the spell. On...
