D&D 5E (2014) I don't actually get the opposition for the warlord... or rather the opposition to the concept.

Making the Warlord a subclass doesn't take away those builds if they handle it correctly. There's easily half a dozen builds with any subclass right now. You don't really need another full class for what amounts to a niche role. And psionics... a series of subclasses for each class could solve...

D&D 5E (2014) I don't actually get the opposition for the warlord... or rather the opposition to the concept.

I see no need for a Warlord class with how 5E is structured. I'm even having trouble justifying a psionics class. Both could be subclasses easily. Really, at this point all I'm seeing is people wanting to bring back the infinite class bloat that plagued 3E, 4E, and is plaguing Pathfinder.

    Constitution? 14th Amendment?

Because at least 95% of the world's population doesn't live within the U.S. This affects everyone from another nation, whether it be Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Israel, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, India, Russia, etc. It also affects Americans; if you lack the proper ID, you can't get a birth...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

The sad thing is, people react that way all over the planet to things different to what they consider normal. Even if they have no reason to. It's a symptom of a much larger problem.

    D&D 5E (2014) Race Brackets (2) Half-Elf v. (3) Tiefling

Half-elf, because they're usually a lot easier to fit into campaign worlds.

    D&D 5E (2014) Race Brackets (2) Drow v. (3) Eladrin

Drow. The Eladrin were an unnecessary division of elves.

    D&D 5E (2014) Race Brackets (2) Half-Orc v. (3) Aasimar

I flipped a coin on this one. Both races can be equally worth it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Race Brackets (2) Gnome v. (3) Dragonborn

Pet that talks too much or dragon person... Dragon person.

    Creating non-stereotypical game worlds

I think you just described something like 20 different webcomics. Oh, and one DnD setting I remember seeing way back when. The "humans are recent arrivals" shows up a lot in DnD settings and DnD-based works. IIRC, even showed up in Forgotten Realms at one point.

D&D 5E (2014) What's unique about the Sword Coast North?

It showcases one of the less common government styles on Faerun. And while you can put anything you want in the Forgotten Realms, the Sword Coast in its entirety is just a tiny portion of FR. It just gets the most focus.

    Amazon's best 100 sci-fi and fantasy books

They get better over time, but overall the Necroscope series was not intended to be a light series or one you can read without accepting there's going to be a lot of horrible things described and done by every side. It really, really is one of those series I would recommend to someone who wants...

    ask a physicist

Something that has me curious... Conservation of mass and conservation of energy... Is it possible those two laws of conservation prevent all forms of time travel? That you cannot travel through time because, from the laws of physics, it would be destroying mass and energy in one time and...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

If that is what you are relying on, I would caution you to not treat it as any greater a foundation than sand. That has been said many, many times in American history about changes like this. Some of those happened nearly two hundred years ago at this point, and people are still waiting for the...

D&D 5E (2014) Miniatures, or Theater of the Mind

I can see LG. Necromancers who focus on putting down the dead instead of raising and assassins who only target evil targets that are causing evil. A LG assassin might even be working for a holy order or a government-backed guild. And, paladins can be evil. The Oath of Vengeance seems...

    Creating non-stereotypical game worlds

I don't bother with trying to be nonstereotypical. There's a stereotype for everything, and the only way I could make something nonstereotypical is to make it completely unlike anything humanity has ever conceived of before... which, ultimately, makes a game that is incredibly difficult for...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

Yes. Some people are actually bothered by it. Just like there was outrage over the lesbian scene in the first Mass Effect, there will be outrage over a gay couple in a module. You can't please everyone. If you choose to be inclusive of LGBT people, you need to accept that you're going to tick...

I'm just not seeing Sword Coast Legends as a game running tool.

I have to agree that I don't see it as a game running tool. I see it as a video game. For making it fun and a video game, they lost that race when Baldur's Gate came out, and that one stuck pretty close to the ruleset of the era. But, that was also 2E. And Neverwinter Nights did 3E well...

Superman < Batman < Iron Man

Unless they've made it not canon (I can't keep up), Batman would always win against Superman... and Superman set it up that way. Gave Batman some Kryptonite so that Batman could act as a check and balance against him. Now, Batman vs. Iron Man... I would pay to see that fight.

    Gaming and Identity Politics

I think we very much do divide ourselves too much. What am I? I'm a gamer. I'm not a LARPer because I'm against it, but because I have no interest in it (except the costumes; I love watching people LARP and cosplay). What games do I love? World of Darkness, both Old and New. DnD for Faerun...
