Yep. Wizards won. Just like I knew they would :D

D&D 5E (2014) The "Lawful" alignment, and why "Lawful Evil" is NOT an oxymoron!

Agreed. But, people actually do believe both of those. So, while they're being silly, it's still a real-world belief. Then again, consider the opposite... the moral absolutism believing that only their morality is right, that it must apply to all cultures even if the moral code itself says...

    Sword coast legend questions.

Maybe in the old days, but anymore 56 hours really isn't that much. It's not unusual to see someone with 200+ hours on a game they gave a terrible review to. 56 hours, anymore, usually isn't even bothering to complete a full playthrough of the game when it's an RPG.

If you thought the Presidential election was going to be insane in 2016...

I'm blowing up the Earth in 2019 to prevent that from happening.

What's The Deal With D&D Translations?

Possibly. I do know it's not a very good idea. Take a look at the Harvest Moon series and the split it suffered for why.

D&D 5E (2014) The "Lawful" alignment, and why "Lawful Evil" is NOT an oxymoron!

Which is a real-world morality argument that has been raging, off an on, for probably about two centuries or better now. There are people in the real world who very much believe in that stance as part of their backing of moral relativism.

N.O.W. Introduction Free Preview on Drivethru

I delayed replying to let excitement die down enough I could give a more balanced review. I'm still drooling. I want this book. I want the other two books. I'm already imagining the fun of combining them. The test play I found on Drivethru made it look very much like a system where I could toss...

I was pointing out the metaphor doesn't fit. The rest of the entire paragraph was devoted to why.

D&D 5E (2014) The "Lawful" alignment, and why "Lawful Evil" is NOT an oxymoron!

This may work best: Lawful is moral absolutism, while Chaotic is moral relativism.

D&D 5E (2014) Flying carpet. How durable do you rule it is, how easy do you rule it is to be knocked off it?

It depends. Bludgeoning- Good. It's really, really hard to defeat a lot of cloth items with a hammer. Slashing- Poor Piercing- Average. While it doesn't have any real protection against piercing, it also doesn't have the material that most living beings have for an arrow to get lodged in. Fire-...

D&D 5E (2014) The "Lawful" alignment, and why "Lawful Evil" is NOT an oxymoron!

Vader obeys a set code of ethics, not the law of the land, and sticks to it. One thing to remember is that LE alignment in 5E doesn't have to obey the laws of the land so much as they stick to a set code of some sort and stick to it quite rigidly. Basically, Vader is an evil paladin.

    Constitution? 14th Amendment?

Okay, who wants to place bets on how many Texan officials will end up jailed before all of the court cases related to this are over?

    Ending Viral Disease

The real problem is not that bacteria are crafty buggers. They're not; they're not even evolved enough to have what would amount to instincts as we understand them. Scott DeWar partly pointed out the real problem: We misused antibiotics and created an extreme degree of pressure that forced...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

You missed my point: Your example was the same kind of discrimination you're arguing against. Only in a different form. Sometimes, the representation itself can be discriminator in how the representation is handled. Let's say I have every African American in a story be a gangster who likes to...

D&D 5E (2014) Miniatures, or Theater of the Mind

Both. There are some situations you simply cannot model with miniatures, and some situations that are a nightmare to keep track of with theater of the mind. So, I use either as the situation calls for it.

    Ending Viral Disease

The problem with you calling it a logical failure is that the logical failure originates within medical science itself. After all, it's been medical experts calling it a problem. And if it is a logical failure, then that combined with the fact that medical science is itself the source of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) FINALS! (1) Fighter v. (1) Wizard

*tells the nearest group of paladins that lowkey13 is the wizard murderer they've been seeking, carefully uses magic to seem convincing* This is brought to you by Wizards Always Win Alliance. Because we do.

D&D 5E (2014) The "Lawful" alignment, and why "Lawful Evil" is NOT an oxymoron!

Darth Vader started out as Chaotic Good, but slid solidly into Lawful Evil. The thing is, that whole bit about trying to overthrow the Emperor, who is his master? That's part of the Sith Code. All Sith are expected to be this way. So it was both trying to tempt Luke to the Dark Side and obeying...

D&D 5E (2014) Player challange Vs Character challange (Metagaming)

Some of the players I've had? Yes, I would very much consider rolling a d20 to be a challenge for the player.

    Ending Viral Disease

Penicillin contributed to the current problem with super-bacteria that are immune to just about everything medical science can throw at them that isn't also deadly to humans. I would say that is a fine example of the exact type of problem I'm talking about: A short-term solution that causes a...
