    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

I have an entire thread dedicated to the subject of what is over-powered, and I have carefully studied the bard.

D&D 5E (2014) Maximum Manageable Number of Players

The only real limitations are space and whether everyone can hear and follow along. Eight players is what I'd consider a general maximum. Most groups will have a small table, maybe with some chairs or couches nearby in the room.

Getting back to this... That's a good suggestion. It's a great example of cooperative magic, too, where more than one person singing may be necessary to use the power (and more might increase the effect). It follows that in a world where the gods grant spells to their priests, they would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

I'm with Neobolts on this one. I also may owe that to 2nd Edition. Personally, I'd like to see bards have their own spells and magical songs and words. They shouldn't be able to lay claim to a truer form of magic than the game's dedicated casters. Bards are hybrid classes, balancing swords...

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

Mr. Mearls should come to a game forum like ENWorld if he wants to engage in social media with the fans. Here he could be more eloquent, and it would be a good thing for ENWorld and any other sites he goes to. Twitter has enough people on it, and it has a reputation for being an open sewer in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

I strongly suspect there are some examples of that, actually. There are examples of magical speech, too. Some real cultures believe in words of power as a matter of fact.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell slots or spell points? Which do you prefer and why?

I guess you're right, but I think someone would learn more easily if they had to make the most of a smaller number of spells.

My English is fine. It's American, but fine. I suggest you follow my example, but I was talking about the musicians who are not bards or adventurers of any other class. You don't have to permit musicians in your setting, but they wouldn't be all bards as D&D uses the language.

    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

I would be more inclined to give the choir boys of the world some magic, or power, but I don't identify any of these people with being bards. The bard is not a musician, and songs and music or even just speech do not produce magic. The same words can be spoken by someone who hears them, but...

I wouldn't use that at all. It has the wrong flavor, and it hurts the flavor of arcane and divine magic.

D&D 5E (2014) Followup on "Everyone Starts at First Level"

You can get much more realism out of experience points if you attach them to time. Setting level advancement to once per year of game time, for instance, provides for all the different sorts of practice, experience, research, and training characters should receive.

    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

I wouldn't give bards any divine magic. I recommend you call their divine spells divine spells and magic, if you use them, though. That is, a bard has both arcane and divine spells by the book. That's how I interpret it anyway, but once again, bards wouldn't have those spells in my campaigns...

Divine magic doesn't go with wands to me. Different flavor.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell slots or spell points? Which do you prefer and why?

They help teach strategy, and the spells' use. If you really have mastered the game, you can make use of spell points as less complicated, but looking at the options when just starting out it really would be more complicated. The execution of spell points can be more complicated than what I...

I embrace the position, and I want others to feel they can, too.

D&D 5E (2014) How has 5e solved the Wand of CLW problem?

The number of encounters between rest intervals is not something the rules can predict. It will vary much more widely than 5-8, and as it happens that estimate itself is too wide to be much use. Going from 5 to 8 is a 60% increase. That isn't what I'd call precise. I'd recommend against...

D&D 5E (2014) Followup on "Everyone Starts at First Level"

Starting at 1st level is what any serious player should expect, in terms of long term play where it's their character. It's just more fun. All of the choices you make at 1st level big impacts, and you can really take the role seriously in terms of imagining them in their setting and...
