    I'm loving this game!

I've been playing for about a year and love the game. Sadly, my Wizard Thulgar died last session. It was probably for the best, as his negative luck combined with some epically bad rolling on my part (I never rolled so many ones for a character) had caused him to suffer a lot of disfiguration...

    25th anniversary reprint of HeroQuest

I loved HeroQuest, it's what got me into RPGs, even though most of my memories of it are fighting with my brothers over the game. :) I eventually got (but never played) Advanced HeroQuest, cementing in my teenage mind (for a brief time) that every RPG must have an advanced version. I wondered...

Yeah, I love Noble Knight. I've gotten some great stuff there.

Pathfinder 1E Great Gyrating Golems! A few adventures...

$175 for Hollow's Last Hope? Isn't it free as a PDF? You could purchase it and print it a Staples for far less. $175 for a 15 page adventure... I liked the adventure, but I didn't >$10/page like the adventure.

A good short 1st-2nd level wildreness adventure?

I second the recommendation of Hollow's Last Hope. It was a pretty fun, easy to run adventure. It is mostly wilderness exploration, with a small ruin to explore at the end. It's especially memorable because an animated pot almost killed a first level PC. :) Imagine the ribbing a guy would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Not-Dragons

That is a likely outcome. But the story of the hobgoblin tribe that was successful would be legendary among the race. "The founder of this tribe was so strong and clever he beat mighty dragons!" Of course, the reality could be that the "mighty dragon" was a decrepit member of the species...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Not-Dragons

THIS. I like the idea that Drakes were created by a breeding program. The Hobgoblins took some dragon eggs and bred new dragons more useful to their purposes. Ones that couldn't fly and escape, and were also dumber and more amenable to training.

    Damn 200 D&D Books

I would recommend Noble Knight. IIRC, they will give you cash, or more if you want to trade in (although since you want to convert to digital, trade-in might not be the best- although you might be able to trade in for something particularly awesome and rare). http://www.nobleknight.com/

Pathfinder 1E Do we care about what it's doing? Ultimate Campaign

I have Ultimate Campaign and really like it, especially the Character Background and Campaign Systems chapters. Honestly, the character background chapter was half the reason I bought the book. But then I'm a sucker for using random tables to help generate story ideas. :) I think that given...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wondering Monster- Once Upon A Time

I love this series of columns. I don't always agree with Wyatt's vision of the monster, but I like the idea of more flavor and world detail in monster entries. Here, I like the idea of having some monsters be "unique" in the world and giving a story about how that could have happened. Maybe...

    Running an underground campaign

I ran a 2e game like this once. The previous generation of adventurers had failed to save the world, and the Blood War raged on the surface. Taking a page from Earthdawn, the dwarves opened up their cities to the "good" races, and so you had humans and some elves, halflings and gnomes all...

Monsters & Magic RPG anyone revew?

I can't compare those above, but all I have to say is: Play DCC! DCC is the best. Go get DCC now. :) This from a die hard 3.5 fan. I've played Castles & Crusades and DCC, and I like DCC a lot better. The flavor of the ruleset, and the balance of the classes really do it for me. The magic...

Help me make a Random History Events Table

Like many of you, I find random tables useful in stimulating the creative process, as your subconscious figures out interesting ways for random results to work together. I'm a big fan of Richard Baker's "World Builder's Guidebook," a fun AD&D 2e worldbuilding book. One of the really cool...

Gary Gygax co-written Unpublished Setting. Bonus Stretch Goal for Kickstarter!

Not to thread-jack (okay, maybe a little), but has anyone heard of a Kickstarter for finishing the publication of Gary's Greyhawk notes? (in other words, publish the rest of Castle Zagyg!) I for one would donate in a heartbeat

Novels with extensive D&D-style ruin/dungeon exploration?

"White Plume Mountain" by Paul Kidd is a novelization of a dungeon crawl adventure. I thought, given the source material, it was well written. It's lots of fun and usually laugh out loud funny. The main character is the Justicar, a ranger who carries a sentient hell-hound pelt, travels with a...

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

Maybe they don't want to make a public apology, because they think that would be bad PR, and draw attention to the story to people who haven't heard it already. Maybe they just want to give the domains back and hope it goes away. Once they give the domains back word will trickle around that...

Help me flesh out my campaign start idea

Hm. I had thought of fudging dice to make sure the PCs won (that they would be competing against commoners would help), but it hadn't occurred to me that they might not want to compete. I guess players can do that sometimes, though. :) Lots of good detail there, kitsune, thanks. I like the...

Help me flesh out my campaign start idea

Hey everyone. So, starting a campaign and getting the party together is always a challenge to do without breaking verisimilitude. I had the following idea, and I was wondering what this august community thought, and if you had any ideas to help me flesh it out. Also, I thought it was a cool...
