How much money have you spent on 3.x?

I have apparently over $1,000, which is a little scary. It does affect my willingness to buy into 4e beyond the core books (I was going to say just the PHB, but I know I'll probably get the other core books too), but that's because I have so much 3e stuff I want to use. I bought most of my...

Ah, ok. All I knew about was the card game. Sorry.

    Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

It's a card game, kind of like Dungeoneer. It's fun, but I've only played it once. That was about a six months ago. My friend back home had it, and I haven't seen it since. I don't remember much about the setting.

    WotC DnD Quintessential 3.X Collection

Having used the Rules Compendium in actual play (although in only one session), I recommend it as well. It's rather well organized, and being able to look up relatively obscure stuff quickly was rather helpful.

    What's your FLGS?

Pandemonium Books and Games in Cambridge, MA. They are awesome. They recently (last few years) moved into a larger space, and the whole basement area is devoted to gaming. There are many tables where people often run various games. Due to the demise of a nearby Games Workshop store they...

The needed monster that's never appeared in the MM1 -- or at all, in some editions

Seconded. :) I read KM's post and realized, as I often do on ENWorld, that I have a lot to learn as a DM. Not that that's a bad thing.

    Gleemax Migration..WTF?

Migration to Gleemax was a pain the the behind for me, as well. I logged into my Wizards community account ("Skinnydwarf") no problem a few weeks ago, but when I tried to login to Gleemax, it wanted me to "migrate" it over. No problem, I thought, I know my username and password. But then it...

A Technical Look at D&D Insider Applications

You are misunderstanding (or I am, but I think I'm right) how the ebook/character generator interacts. The way I understand how it will work is this: You buy a hardcopy of the book, and you can "activate" an ecopy for a nominal fee. SEPARATE from that is the character generator. The...

    Dungeon-light campaign-length adventures

Am I the only one who read this post as Aeric saying his friend wanted to run a D&D game SET in the near future, and was having trouble finding published adventures that would work? I was thinking, "You're having a hard time finding D&D adventures set in the 21st century? No kidding." I was...

D&D 4E Is liking 4E biased by how many books you own?

I have a ton of 3e books. About 2-3+ dozen, not counting adventures.* I bought most of these books since I moved to Boston, and most of my time in Boston has been in law school. So I haven't had time to use them, and I want to use them- but I won't be able to do that before 4e comes out...

Castle & Crusades - who has tried it and not stuck with it?

I've played a little over a dozen sessions in two mini-campaigns. While I like the system, and initially thought I would enjoy its simplicity, I found myself wanting more detail in the rules, so I'm going back to 3E. C&C's main advantage, as Crothian said, is the short prep time. I think that...

    Memorable Phrases uttered by PCs

I was playing the Tomb of Horrors (I think?) at my FLGS a few months ago. I guess there is an archway that changes genders, or something. The dwarf went in. One of the other plays said, "Our dwarf dude went in there, and now he's not a dude anymore." Plus, see my sig.

    The C&C poll

I like C&C. It's a nice simple system, character creation is a snap, as is adventure preparation. I do long for the complexity of 3E, but C&C really fits my needs right now. I'm a law student running a biweekly (in theory) game (insane, I know), and the simplicity really helps. That and...

Fantasy world maps and real world geology

I voted don't know, don't care. I don't think "we have magic we we don't need real world geology" (not that there's anything wrong with that). I just don't care- I have more important things to worry about in my game. "Real world" geology in my game goes about as far as rivers originating in...

    You know what I hate?

I've been running "Assault on Blacktooth Ridge" (a Castles & Crusades adventure) the last few sessions, and it has a few places like that. Personally, I like it, because it gives me a chance to make some of my own stuff. Sure, I could've just written my own adventure, but it helps to have a...

    Urgent!

Well, this may not be as outlandish or cool as some of the other suggestions, but I had a rather good time in a fight where I fought an enemy on a platform complex. Here is my idea: There is a set of small wooden platforms elevated above the ground (maybe with lava or something else painful...

    Stupidest things PCs/DMs have done

Hm. I seem to remember reading that now. I don't know why I was under the impression going into hyperspace w/in gravity caused an explosion, but at the time it seemed to make sense. Maybe it does that in a different sci fi universe, and I got them confused? Oh well. As I said, the first...
