    D&D 5E (2014) Range/Move Redux

Well, at least you included two trees in the middle of your infinite white-room. That was an unexpected plus.

    D&D 5E (2014) When To Roll Persuasion?

Or, unless the outcome is uncertain for some reason, just roleplay it out. If the party face is being reasonable, I generally just go with it and respond appropriately. If the uncouth barbarian insists on speaking up, I generally know how my NPCs would respond to such a thing. I'm not one to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Range/Move Redux

Given that you use feats, and enjoy exploiting them no less, I find this statement confusing. Its like you intentionally ignored the other builds' benefits while congratulating ranged specialists' build benefits using the same resource investments.

    D&D 5E (2014) Range/Move Redux

I didn't realize tactics and logical behavior was limited to player characters. I generally allow my NPCs a modicum of common sense. I seldom just have them frantically spinning around in circles, while arrows fly at them from far away, waiting for sweet death.

    D&D 5E (2014) Range/Move Redux

If the goal is, "Avoid fighting as much as possible," then yeah. Totally. And that's a great setting/playstyle for some. IMO, D&D has never been geared for that approach though. To me it sort of welcomes and encourages doing battle with enemies. But like I said, there are other ways to play it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Range/Move Redux

Also, "Ranged is clearly superior, so I'm playing an archer so I can hang back," might make perfect sense. Until the rest of the players follow suit and all decide to join you in making ranged focused characters, too. Then you have no meat shields to hold the monsters at bay while you pluck away...

    D&D 5E (2014) Easy Berserker Barbarian fix

So basically that would make paladins a berserker's best friend?

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Check out Protection from Evil and Good. Very cool spell. Not only thematically cool, but also quite beneficial in a lot more situations than I believe people think.

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Nice thing about that choice is that you not only get Thaumaturgy, but you can take Guidance too!

But he wants to do a melee tome pact. Not blade.

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Foolish mortal! Why waste your time taking weapon master, just to use a longsword, when you could have just been an elf!!!

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

I loved 4e and played the heck out of it for years. Such a fun system. I'm not sure what you are implying. Are you saying they are largely the same? With similar play processes and expectations? I sure don't. I've played, and enjoyed, so many different TTRPG systems over the decades. They all...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

"Better"...IYO. BTW, rangers can manage to function just fine even if they never prepare/cast hunter's mark. I can't imagine that's a shocking or controversial statement. Found you problem. The idea that somehow all warlocks need to "be level with other primary damage dealers in the game". I...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Take EB. Don't take EB. Take it with invocation(s). Take it vanilla and use your invocations for other things. All options are viable, playable character choices. AFAIC, if one way was the designed expectations, it would have been a fixed class feature and not an option.

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign being throw out after a year

Your campaign lasted a year. Aside from the "unfortunate ending", hey, bright side is it lasted a year. I'd guess most campaigns don't last that long.

D&D 5E (2014) Front Line Warlock (Or other caster)

My assassin/shadow monk/warlock eventually picked up eldritch blast when he got his tome. As a "magic shadow ninja", his eldritch blasts are shuriken of concentrated darkness that he conjures up and throws. At 11th level currently, he gets three now. Feels very ninja-esque to throw three...

D&D 5E (2014) Front Line Warlock (Or other caster)

Worth it, to me. I ended up deciding on: eldritch blast, friends, guidance, message, prestidigitation, thaumaturgy. I've had a great time making use of all of them.

D&D 5E (2014) Front Line Warlock (Or other caster)

My assassin/feypact tomelock makes pretty good use of combining both prestidigitation and thaumaturgy. Fun roleplaying opportunity there...

D&D 5E (2014) What Rules do you see people mistake or misapply?

Yeah, you keep telling me that's my belief... For whatever reason, your posts remind me of those DMs who grit their teeth in dismay over aarokocra because they want to "challenge" the party with a 20' wide hole in the ground..
