    D&D 5E (2014) Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds?

I appreciate the thought man but I'm not unclear about anything. I just don't like the software, sorry.

    D&D 5E (2014) Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds?

I bought the ultimate license for FG and $150 worth of products, then dropped it like a hot rock. The UI is obscure, it's clunky as anything and making a character is tortuous.

D&D 5E (2014) [Dark Sun] How Would YOU Handle Defiling in 5e?

Really? My group used it like crazy with the daily feat, since you really couldn't afford to miss with dailies in 4e.

D&D 5E (2024) Twelve actions for an even fresher 6th edition, or for an ultra-basic retooling of 5e

Same. Firstly, what is a "Eurogame"? Secondly, what is "boardgamizing" and why is it an implied bad thing?

D&D 5E (2014) Some clever ideas wanted for a twist my players threw at me

If it was me, I'd want the party to do some kind of task to undo whatever it was that bound the bard's spirit to the pool in the first place. Either the bard couldn't move on in death because of something that happened at the pool (that he might well have suppressed). Or, if you want to go a...

D&D 5E (2014) [Dark Sun] How Would YOU Handle Defiling in 5e?

I liked the 4e way of handling it. Arcane casters got a free "Defiling" feat that you could choose to use when you cast a spell. Doing so reduced plants to ash and gave living creatures penalties or somesuch (could duplicate in 5e with disadvantage). The benefit was that you didn't use a slot...

Titansgrave and why 5E needs a setting (or two) (and another take on a suggested product lineup)

Absolutely. While we're doing WotCs planning for them, maybe they could produce 100 products? Say 4 or 5 settings, 2 or 3 mega-adventures, 5 splatbooks per class. k thx bye xxx

    D&D 5E (2014) Fifth Age: A hard science fiction 5e conversion

Awesome stuff OP. I recognize some of the artwork though. It might pay to check the usage on it and credit the appropriate artist? Even if they allow its usage in personal projects, it's nice to acknowledge the artist. :-)

    D&D 5E (2014) Fifth Age: A hard science fiction 5e conversion

Heh 2025. I had a good giggle at that. Turing-grade (let alone super-turing) AI is a good way off.

D&D 5E (2014) What should the backlash be? Your ideas wanted

Lol, they sound kinda douchey. Have an evil organisation hear of the fracas and send someone to retrieve the crystal (which handily is not guarded by the wizard, the elemental or the PCs). The PCs hear that the crystal and the apprentice are missing along with whatever evidence they need to...

D&D 5E (2014) Well played WOTC (or Free RPG Day 2015)

I agree. Sure, WotC have engaged in blatant money grabs from time to time but credit where credit's due, they've also released a lot of free web enhancements and supplements over the years too. The EE Players Supplement was a prime example. That was like a mini-splat book!

D&D 5E (2014) What should the backlash be? Your ideas wanted

I don't know why there has to be consequences. They had good reason to smash it and it was the smart thing to do given that apprentice was getting th' ol' crazy Saruman-eyes! Of course if someone warns them not to press the big red button because of x consequence and they decide to ignore the...

D&D 5E (2014) How does the errata on hiding affect the mask of the wild ability of the wood elf?

I think "clearly" describes it ok. Basically the enemy needs to be able see you for long enough to unambiguously identify you as an enemy. I'm not sure that precludes normal folk from hiding in lightly obscured and/or dimly lit squares though. I guess it's up to the individual DM.

Hmm the more I think about it, the more I think you might be correct.

D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

That's ok, now I imagine myself as Clint Eastwood in Good, Bad and Ugly. :D

D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

Just perusing the errata, weapons with the "ammunition" property now require a free hand to reload (which makes sense). Does that render the "crossbow expertise" feats bonus attack null and void since (apart from the first round) you won't be able to load the second hand crossbow without...

D&D 5E (2014) How does the errata on hiding affect the mask of the wild ability of the wood elf?

It doesn't specifically say that everyone can now hide in dim light or lightly obscured squares, just whether the enemy can clearly see them or not (which I'm assuming is determined by the perception check).

    D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Fighter + Mobile Feat Combo

Just to be clear, you can always move through allies spaces, you just can't stop there so Nimbleness doesn't apply. Also, the no-AoO feature of Mobility only applies after you make a melee attack, so you need to close and make a melee attack against all enemies that can hit you, in order to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Help With My Dark Sun One-shot

No to the flying ships and flying pyramids but that doesn't matter. If I remember correctly, there was a vehicle which was basically a giant hollowed out zombie-beetle, so theres no reason you couldn't have a similar giant flying-zombie creature. Or actually, the halflings of old were...
