D&D General Adam Bradford, Lauren Urban, Todd Kenrick Leave D&D Beyond

I only go on sporadically, myself, but in my experience, the community isn't the nicest.

    D&D 5E (2024) Revised 6E prediction thread

That's a fair point, though the different human cultures RL was part of my point in that just as in the real world, different cultures help bring diversity. And it is true that the same species doesn't all have to have the exact same culture--wood elf culture is a bit different than high elf...

D&D 5E (2014) What Theme Appeals The Most?

I like drow (maybe Eilistraee and Vhaeraun come in to power again, but that's only if you're playing FR--though you could of course mix it up). Speaking of mixing, hwo about drow in a Viking/Midgard setting?

D&D General Adam Bradford, Lauren Urban, Todd Kenrick Leave D&D Beyond

The DNDBeyond forums aren't the friendliest place, but I don't think that has much bearing on the company itself. I saw Todd's farewell video on YouTube a few days ago. It's probably an internal (within the company) thing. There have been a lot of upheavals in the gaming community lately.

D&D General trying to come up with a decent setting idea.

The mythic-style gods are my favorite kind lol

    Best RL Pantheon?

I'm interested in Japanese myths, but those pantheons aren't extinct. It's hard to pick though. I probably know the most about Greek, and some Viking, but I love mythology in general.

    D&D 5E (2024) Revised 6E prediction thread

I have mixed emotions about the way D&D seems to be going. Some of the changes I support, others I'm more uncertain about. I just hope they don't entirely do away with what it means to be of a certain species, at least culturally. Of course, just like in real life, each member of a species is an...

Books everyone seems to love, but you just can't

C'mon all, I managed to start the Wheel of Time series at age 12. If a 12-year old can read 'em, you all can too ;) I tease, I tease. For me it's the Inheritance series. I loved the first one (Eragon), but after Eldest...no, just no lol. I hated so much the way he handled the elves it soured...

Books you like but get a lot of criticism or hate

I liked the early Shannara books, but I stopped at the Genesis trilogy. Stopping had nothing to do with me considering it a Tolkien rip-off though. Hmm...I guess the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks. The books are popular, but they also get a lot of criticism, with Weeks' fans saying...

D&D Movie/TV D&D TV Show By John Wick Creator

As an FR fan, I wouldn't mind an FR series, however, I would hope they would do an original cast of characters (rather than, say, Drizzt), and really showcase the world--which would be better accomplished with a series than a movie.

    ENWorld's Guide to Life

You can have everything you want in life, you just can't always have it all at once.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Lawsuit Dismissed Without Prejudice

I will admit I have never really explored the world of DL, but I am curious about the "exciting news" that is coming, and to see what this means for D&D overall.

D&D 5E (2014) The Fall Of The Dwarves: What Races Do People Actually Play?

I've always had a thing for elves lol, so I tend to play them.

    D&D General Downplaying Humanity

Not D&D, but my queerplatonic partner and I have been telling stories (it's like the roleplaying part of D&D, in some ways) for years, and while we definitely have humans and some characters, the majority of our characters are not human, or at least not fully. Elves, dragons, and made-up races.

D&D 5E (2014) Thought exercise: Faerun as Human Only

Personally, I wouldn't be as interested in the Realms if it didn't have the races (I get tired of it always being humans). But in your own campaign, if it's what you want to do, then do it.

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything: An In-Depth Review

This makes me feel a bit better, though I'm still not certain I want the book (may look through it first). I'm not a fan of MToF, and I'll admit, when I first heard about these new customizations, I was worried they were taking things a bit too far, as some of the options were originally a...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

I have read through more of this thread now (though not all of it), and rather than multi-quoting, I’m just going to share more thoughts I have after reading some of the comments. I’ve always been a fan of the gods. They enrich the setting for me, and again, the lack of deities is why I haven’t...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

Welp, late to this thread, so I haven't read all the comments, but here are my thoughts: One of the things I like about certain D&D settings is that there is a well-established afterlife, and not a gloomy one—well, depending on the god you subscribe to. This is a big reason I’ve stayed away...
