[4E] Review of Medieval Life and Laws by Alea Publishing

Wait. There are four new "human races". Eh.

Ever let players run the opposition?

Yep. It works fine. You may notice that the more cooperative or group-oriented players will actually avoid their best abilities if they are about to wax a party member solid.

    Good City Adventures

Ptolus - hands down. It's a city in a book plus adventures. After that? God. Lots. Zobeck - as portrayed in the Gazetteer and Tales of Zobeck. (I wrote one of the eight adventures in that - so bias should be noted.) Mad God's Key is a really good starter city adventure.

    Satisfying (but sad) DM Moments

Yes! At GenCon, when a character died, four of the players at the table (all the PCs were litorians, a leonine race), all caterwauled together. Eerie and rewarding all at once.

Spirit of the Century: Building a Vampire Adversary...

Nice. I think - given that he's better than a pulp hero, that Resolve and Endurance at 5 might make people sweat. Alertness 4? Intimidation 4? That leaves one more, and those are key skills for Strahd.

    FATE: Where to start?

What do you want to do? Dresden Files is modern. Spirit of the Century is more pulpy. The latter has supernatural elements in spades (Mysteries, Artifacts, etc - it's all how you define it) whereas the former is really supernatural through and through. I have not personally picked up Dresden...

Spirit of the Century: Building a Vampire Adversary...

A fair point. I think I would allow more stunts for "epic" villains who might need a Base and some quality minions, for example. Yeah, all good. Though what happens if a PC accepts a concession and becomes...a vampire. Hm. I could see that happening. Good thought on the Artifact stunt...

Spirit of the Century: Building a Vampire Adversary...

This sounds pretty cool! (Actually, I haven't bought it yet, but I suspect the Dresden Files RPG rules would suit your purpose even better. Nonetheless, that's not an obstacle is it?) He's going to be a lot more powerful than a typical SotC named character. Might I suggest reviewing the entry on...

Pathfinder 1E You're the CEO of PAIZO. Now What?

Most of the issues you cite don't bother me, however the current layout where it displays posts is not optimal IMO. I would rather have to click on a forum and see all new posts than only see the top couple displayed. If I go away for a week and come back, I tend to gloss over forums with...

    d20 Story

Interesting question. It meant that when I got back into D&D after a 15 year absence, that there was a lot more to keep my interest. It meant that there was a pile of material, some good, some bad, some inbetween to choose from when running a game. It also meant that eventually I got to be a...

Pathfinder 1E You're the CEO of PAIZO. Now What?

If I were CEO of Paizo, I would keep on keeping on. Do exactly what you're doing and refine it. Consider a digital character and monster builder. My gaming group just went 4E because in huge part of those two programs. I'm okay with it, but I like Pathfinder better. Also consider the...

10 Sourcebooks: Which Ones Should I Get?

Seconded! (Evenif I wrote 10% of the latter - get it just for the spell called Paper Tigers which I did not write.) Creepy non-magic ways to buff your NPCs plus spell biscuits to toss to your player and (again) buff your NPCS? What's not to like? :D

What are you playing that is NOT D&D?

D&D 4E. Oops. However, I just finished an enlightening adventure as a player that used Spirit of the Century. Now I'm writing an adventure for that system! Excellent stuff, for my style.

An Airship as the center of a campaign

Cool! I like your terrain (i.e. ship). Good stuff as the centerpiece. I would recommend not attacking the ship other than once or twice. (Consider it like a PCs home base or fortress - the more you attack them there, the less comfortable they get.) I suggest that the airship has a legitimate...

    The Sweet Spot

They've expanded it because 1) we still get to play a Third Edition variant with full support and 2) there are a lotta cool options in there.

    Tact-Tiles: The End

Whoa. Are they actually being made now?
